reality in it's perfection

ok, any mathy person knows that the entire world can be represented by a complex list of numbers and algorithms. this 'natural structure' of the universe is like a program with limitless programs contained inside, and the rules can niether be bent nor broken. things must happen according to the physical world. we as people are just bigs bags of burbling enzymes. this view of the world may be a little faithless, but that's the only way i can interpret the mysteries of the world.

Math is but one of an infinite number of models through which we can understand our world and our place in it. The cool thing about math is that people have been working on it for hundreds of years so its highly developed and capable of describing many things.

But I reckon theres about a million other models out there too, that are just as good at helping us to understand this crazy wave we're riding.

I disagree with your "rules can neither be bent nor broken" bit.

Change is constant in all forms. Nothing can stand up to it and survive forever.

This Creation can take the form of anything it is intended or intends for itself..
Peace.

To create music is to create something tangible from a series of otherwise intangible units in a pattern. I can tap my pencil at any rate: 1, 2, 3, 4. I can emphasize some taps and not others. The moment I turn my pencil into a mallet and move it to a Xylophone, I can add tonal variation. The moment I create intertwining tonal variations, I can communicate an ideas to other people. I can express sadness, I can express love. Math is just the same way. Rather than expressing sadness and love, however, math expresses critical ideas, which can be just as beautiful as any piece of art. Both are a form of interpretation. Emotion certainly plays a key role in our universe, but emotion would be nothing without information with which it can interact. Neither math nor music is of greater distance to Reality than the other.

Truly, the universe is an enormous amalgamation of patterns which have been assembled into a tangible idea. We are here; we are existing, we can communicate and observe. Something measurable is happening here. Should none of this be here, the potential for it would remain.

Truly, our brains are an enormous amalgamation of lonely cells which have been assembled into a tangible identity. We are aware of ourselves; we can inquire of our origin. Something measurable is happening here. Should we not be here, the potential for us to be here would remain.

It is this potential we must explore and uncover.

Has anyone here seen the movie Pi? <- Good flick, I recomend it.

Maybe this universe/reality is naturally digital. Like in the matrix, but not fabracated (natural). Just a thought.

What if we only perceived the world through math... An infinite array of equation and what have you.

and then what if we were talking of the mystery of just seeing an object visually with no mathematical connatation. Like... "Wow, if you clear your mind and focus than that tree looks just like this brown stalk with leaves on top of it."

It would probably be the equivalent of holding your breath or something to get a weird sort of buzz that impairs your judgement

yes, i own it on dvd. very interesting film and wonderfully shot.
directed by the guy that did requiem for a dream as well.
Maths never really came naturally with me, i had to work hard to understand it at school so i've never really applied it into anything since, though i wish i could understand it better now.

I thought Pi was a cool flick, really cool idea, but the cinematography blows ass. Aronofsky is not a great director, imo. His crazed shots and gimmicky image sequences are hollow. Theres no reason for them, they don't add anything to the movies other than a strangeness that distracts one away from whats actually happening to the characters. Dunno, might just be me. peace.

i agree that life can be interpreted through mathematical algorithms and whatnot. But I believe also that conciousness interwines with the math. In an algorithm, you have variables. I believe conciousness is the deciding factor of these variables, or maybe something along those lines. Maybe conciousness interacts with the physics of our universe?

I like both Pi and Requiem for a Dream. The first I saw was Requiem for a Dream, and aftwards I sung praise for Arfonsky. Anticipating another great film, I rented Pi. I liked both films, but after seeing Pi, Arfonsky didn't seem so special anymore. It started to become clear that his "strange, surreal" directing style is extremely forced and somewhat empty of imagination.

Finally, another person who DOESN'T think Pi is the best movie of all time.  I thought it was boring.
