This has been the answer from day one. The matrix may hint that way, but the matrix is a combination of many philosophies into a single movie. The 13th floor is also a pretty cool movie that represents the world as being a simulation. The fact that we are, we say, and we do, is because of the past, present, and what we want from the future. Everything is based off interaction, experience, and deductive logic. We are computers, just very very complicated ones, in a giant super computer world. Whoever coded the program, knows the rules, and therefor knows the outcome before it starts.

One thing we do have is thought, we can think for ourselves. It may be based off prior experience, we may be computer programs, but we are computer programs capable of relizing what we really are. We are capable of knowing the rules, and how they effect us, and how we can use them to our own good. Welcome to the game of life. Whoever knows the rules, and knows how to play wins.

why would you be given the choice to discover this, and thus free yourself, so you could turn on your creators or whatever. wouldnt they remove any threat by just not creating it. if they were simply creating programs, then they'd have to have botched the job to give us the ability to figure them out. of course, mebbe they just make people crazy when they discover this. oh well :-)

Not necessarily - maybe the idea behind us was to evolve past and assist "them," kind of like how machines are starting to become way better at certain things than we are, but wouldn't exist without us here on Earth to create them.

Maybe God IS fuking around with us. Maybe hes laughing it up on his computer playing with us in this HUGE 'The Sims' game he just came up with while smoking a joint once, uh, uh! Ever thought of that????

heh, i like that concept, yes. although by our "laws," you cannot program something that will surpass you. a computer can do multiplications faster than us, but it can't do them until we gave the answers, or at least the algorithm that is required. but just cause we think we can't do it, doesn't mean anything.

maybe we are the creators? anyone ever seen Vanilla Sky? Of course, I'd like to find out why the hell I made myself experience childhood like i did. Nevermind, I think I would know the answer, if such hypothetical situation is indeed reality. Or our simulation, whatever
