God is fucking evil.
    #1804313 -

What if we really are controlled by an evil god? I mean who else would chain us down to this shit place (at least where im sittinG). I mean its nice if you look at it for what it is, but imagine what it could be. I dunno mby im being greedy, but if God was a nice god he would start by giving us each our own planet full of pleasure, wonder. And never ending enchanting experiences...

Experiences are relative. If you never had any bad or boring experiences, the "enchanting" things wouldn't be very enjoyable.
Let's say you like chocolate. You probably enjoy eating it every once in a while, maybe even daily. If you had to eat chocolate all of the time for the rest of your life, and never had any other food, you probably wouldn't be too fond of it anymore.

And as for our own planet full of pleasure and wonder... go on a walk through nature by yourself, climb a tree, go swimming in the ocean, or even a lake will do. We have an amazing planet, but there's no need to be greedy. There is plenty for everyone.

yes yes, im sure reality construction is very difficult. Imagine how difficult it is to design a massive skyscraper; how much work is involved. Now multiply that by 8 billion-thousand trillion billion. I think he's done a pretty good job, lots of variables taken into consideration, lots of alternate endings.

Well said.

One can always wish for more pleasure and wonder, but it's unwise to be caught up in that wish to the point where you no longer are able to appreciate what's already here.

I believe someone once wrote a poem about this subject: here's the link because the shroomery won't let me paste here.. baaaad shroomery!!

http://www.portablepoetry.com/poems/thomas_hardy/hap.html

Also, I suggest you do some research on reincarnation and karma. It is the only belief that has allowed me to get through my own life. You create your own destiny, but there is a lag effect. And the lag effect is a bitch!

Irregardless, one thing I encourage you to do is to continually think on the meaning of life and keep it as much as possible to yourself. When you debate about it you are getting your own ego involved plus the ego of the one you're debating with. It is common to do so in order to test your beliefs against anothers, but it is not the way I suggest.

Everything you need to know about the truth is *inside* you!!
Question beliefs internally and go where the truth leads you. Be positive!

Ok, this is annoying. Suddenly I can no longer cut and paste anything longer than one sentence. I wanted to put the entire text of the poem in my post, but the paste option was greyed out. This is waaaay off topic I know, but any ideas?

Also, when I click on the link I provided in my post above it doesn't open a new window and take me to that place.

i really. have no clue . but here you go...
the poem!!!!!!!!!!!

Thomas Hardy : Hap
If but some vengeful god would call to me
From up the sky, and laugh: ?Thou suffering thing,
Know that thy sorrow is my ecstasy,
That thy love?s loss is my hate?s profiting!?

Then would I bear it, clench myself, and die,
Steeled by the sense of ire unmerited;
Half-eased in that a powerfuller than I
Had willed and meted me the tears I shed.

But not so. How arrives it joy lies slain,
And why unblooms the best hope ever sown?
?Crass Casualty obstructs the sun and rain,
And dicing Time for gladness casts a moan. . . .
These purblind Doomsters had as readily strown
Blisses about my pilgrimage as pain.

"if God was a nice god he would start by giving us each our own planet full of pleasure, wonder. And never ending enchanting experiences..."

How would you be able to sustain that planet without seeing how its done first? We are all here to learn. I mean, if you were the head of a major company, you wouldnt pick someone with no education in engineering as your head of Research and Development, would you? Of course not! You'd want the person in that position to have been through 8 years of MIT!

Also, God has better things to do than shield us from the ramifications of our choices. I think God is doing a marvelous job of keeping the physics of the universe intact. Or maybe thats Lucifer's job?

If God was evil, we would live eternal lives of pain, suffering, and torture.

If God was good, we would live eternal lives of utter bliss, joy, and satisfaction.

Given that most people's lives are somewhere between these two extremes, I come to the conclusion that, if there is a god, God is neither good nor evil; God is neutral.

And regarding the supposed problems with a life of eternal happiness and wonderment: You would not get tired of it. That's a flaw of the reality we have here, not an inherent flaw of experiences.

...that would all be meaningless having nothing to compare them to. You need both the postive and negative aspects in everything, otherwise nothing is good or bad.

One viewpoint that I like to toss out there to trip up the Christians is along the same lines... more or less...

It goes something like:

Jesus is actually the Son of Satan rather than the Son of God.  Back in the day, God was winning the war between good and evil.  So Satan, being the father of lies comes up with the all time lie of lies.  He has a son and sends him out into the world to do good things... basically trying to meet the needed requirements in the prophecies of the old testiment.  His son goes around performing all these wonderful acts... healing people, raising the dead [1], etc.  He tells people that he is the Son of God and that the only way they can commune with God is through him.  In order to ensure that the plan stuck with the people, and being the evil bastard that he is, Satan stakes his own son to a cross and leaves him for dead.  When his son is 'resurrected' [1] everybody believes and a new following is gained.  All the sheep start to worship the Son of Satin (being Jesus) instead of worshiping God directly.  What follows are wars, famine, global warming, the Pope, etc.

[1] Although Satan cannot raise the dead (in the eyes of a Christian), he can use demons to make people think the dead have been raised.  All that matters is the dead bloke makes a showing for a few days.  If the guy falls dead again a few days later nobody is going to care... that he came back to life is what will be recorded for all time.

P.S.  My apologies to all the Christians out there reading this.  I don't mean to belittle your faith.  I am fairly insignificant in the grand scheme of things and what I say is not worth getting upset about.

Actually considering all the "good" things cristianity has done for us, i find that that analogy vastly amusing!

nice theory. I too believe that bigotry (ie- my god not your god) is the hand of satan.

Although it is also my belief that all the words Jesus spoke that encouraged centuries of christian bigotry were put in his mouth by roman scholars several hundred years after the fact.

Even the earthly work of the son of god is subject to the corruption of lucifer. After all, Earth is his domain.

I'm pretty sure "hell" was a creation of those aforementioned Roman scholars, or some previous incarnation of the same ilk.
