Be aware that you probably have some woodlovers growing in your area, like
P. serbica/P. arcana and P. cyanescens. I'd definitely be on the lookout for
those species if I was in Bavaria.

jap i have to agree a bit with you but as the most fields here are fertilized you really have to drive a bit around, but hey no problem, iam a biker and i know my area better than anyone else :P
so purplemushroom is right, i think they have to much fertilization on their fields so he can´t finde some, here it was no problem for him.
But i also would say he should search after some woodlovers, he might have luck ^^

at first- congrats to your nice finds!

i can say you go to the Schwarzwald if you look for woodlovers, the area near Stuttgart is very good and also they are growing near the coast (Hamburg ect.)
And if you wanna cultivate them: its a wonderfull thing, check my(not so well updated) thread about my expermiments with WL´s maybe you get some good infos and inspirations ^^


And now i have to show you what i´ve done the last week, our fields are sooooo full i can´t belive it, check the best pics of my last 4 hunts and the loot, hope it makes your mouth watery :

one weird thing i've noticed is the type of p. semilanceata that are most abundant in my field have an almost plane cap shape. but i am 100% sure these are liberty caps. i'll upload pictures later but i'm just wondering if anyone else has seen them like this

yeah i got the same opinion, i just think a few woodlovers here would be perfect too i think the libs you got are ok but post pics if you aren´t sure, its always better to get a second opinion. in my experience the size and shape of the libs is affected from where they grow (high gras,flat gras,moss ect) and i mostly find them wide opened ones in fields with high grass, could be also maybe the difference between p. semilanceata and p. strictipes but thats speculation

I didn't find any new fields till now, and the few caps I found this weekend are pretty small. But I'm happy that at least I found some, ok for my first hunting season, and it's not over yet!

thanks yeah its a lot growing up in here but i also make this since 3 years so i had much time to get experience and find fields which are also a bit more far away from my home ^^

hope you both also find some more fine spots

I hunted for a long time and I finally got lucky. I had checked one field and was walking off thinking that it was yet another disappointment, but out of the corner of my eye I saw one little cap and thought "this could be it!" and sure enough it was It was only a tiny area that produced anything, and the ground was soaking wet, but I pulled over 100 from the small area!

I think the biggest surprise for me was the amount of water there. I definitely think all the other fields I've been checking have been just too dry. The grass they were in was far greener than any other I'd been checking. So definitely look for the parts of the field where the water collects.

nice so you found them all in nearly one cluster? maybe the field is fertilized except some edges ^^ try to give the field a closer look maybe you´ll find some more just can imagine hard that it is to dry anywhere atm.
