Do you get smarter or more understanding as you get older?

Or both? I hope I can be old and wise someday =D I know most of the people on this board that really have their shit together are older than the rest of us.... I don't know though... I wish I could retain my youth in physical form and just get older mentally.

yup learn from experiences and i think u just become more enlightened and try to live for the future instead of the present :smile: when this mentality sets in is when you begin to take steps to becoming older and wiser :smile:

Old people suck. The problem is that they think that just because they used to think exactly as we young people do and out grew it that young people have a lot to learn. But the truth is, not many old people could beat up young people. Young people are way better fighters. How many professional boxers are over 50? Not many. FIN

anyway, in response to the original question:
i dunno if i qualify as "older" :wink:
but sometimes as we age, we realize that, while we may know a few things, we most assuredly do not know it all...

Well I am 36 now, not old yet but not pup either.
I can honestly say that I am wiser than when I was 18, when you bump your head so many times, you learn not to jump and make decisions on a whim.
Also when you get older you realize that you know absolutely nothing (when I was 18 I thought I knew it all).
The problem as you get old is what I call "crystallization" I see most of my friends crystallized by life (career, kids, materialism) They tend to forget, that they used to feel life more intensely, they become slaves to routine, and the treadmill of society could be devastating.
I my self was getting caught up in it, until I took some steps, I left the city life, and live in a log cabin now, try to grow my food and live very simple.
And from my part I am doing an effort to get younger mentally, I try to play more (the other day I got me a kite, believe it or not) and I had a blast.
The only thing Is some times I am lonely all my playmates became old and boring, you cant have a dinner with them with out bringing up a conversation about there stock, job or kids.

Wow man, I tought that no one was living like this nowadays.

I think your real cool.

I believe for a long time that its how would love to live but i am a slave to electricity and such new technology.
I hope i ll eventually be able to do teh same as you. :smile:
