No Christian Churches left in Afghanistan
    #15238393 -

There is not a single, public Christian church left in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. State Department.

This reflects the state of religious freedom in that country ten years after the United States first invaded it and overthrew its Islamist Taliban regime.

In the intervening decade, U.S. taxpayers have spent $440 billion to support Afghanistan’s new government and more than 1,700 U.S. military personnel have died serving in that country.

The last public Christian church in Afghanistan was razed in March 2010, according to the State Department’s latest International Religious Freedom Report. The report, which was released last month and covers the period of July 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, also states that “there were no Christian schools in the country.”

They report this like it is a bad thing. Now how do we accomplish this wonderful milestone in the US?

Only $440 billion for a puppet government that despises America and will collapse as soon as funds are withdrawn? Seems like a raging bargain. Fuck our homeless and seniors. Go goat and opium farmers!

although i believe in religious freedom(i believe in all freedoms), i feel sorry for anyone who remains dependent on any organized religion... it's all about control, it's a big head game... it doesn't surprise me at all that this would occur in afghanistan... they're an as backwards a country as any out there... maybe the people there will eventually wake up, turn their backs on allah and begin to shut the mosques down...

i'm not trying to highjack your thread but i feel compelled to say this... i understand there could be military consequences but i still feel we should immediately cut off all funding to their government... we messed up when we trained and funded the mujahideen in their fight against russia... over time the mujahideen evolved into what is now known as al-qaeda today... the enemy bush continuously warned was going to overrun our country and take away our freedoms... as you point out, their people hate us...

Well the argument goes that if we don't dump lots of money there and keep boots on the ground, the country will revert to a giant training facility for terrorists as it was 10 years ago. That would cost us more in the long run.

Note that I don't necessarily agree with that argument, but I'll play devil's advocate.

Republican Values:

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.
