To get a better idea of the general belief demographic of those visiting S&P, I've erected this poll of the major religions. (Christianity and its branches are in one option, since there are so many sub-groups of it, same with any religion with sub-groups)

As for myself personally, my beliefs put me somewhere around Neo-Paganism/Buddhism/New Age.. which I call Shroomism

My viewpoint is largely Taoist and Agnostic in nature, but I don't consider either one to be a religion. If you understand that I come from a background of Catholic schools, perhaps you would then understand why I don't consider them as actual religions. But, that being said, I will play along.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.' Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence. Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains. Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

I understand what you are saying, I try not to lump myself into any one category as my beliefs are quite flexible. But for the purpose of this try and choose something. We don't have to call them religions.. more like perspectives.

I chose New Age (Self Religion) just for lack of a better option. Most of my spiritual ideas and practices have been formed from my use of psychedelics (specifically Psilocybin mushrooms) and a life-long feeling of having a high spiritual purpose on this world. As I explore more and more religions, I have found that my beliefs and practices come closest to Buddhism.

I voted for none, because I can't simply choose one.
If I had to choose a combination it would be a good mix of New Age, Neo-pagan and Buddhism, although not a single word has enough descriptive power to sum up even a fraction of what my "way" entails.
Because I'm just so deep man, yeah!
I say it's better for anyone to go without any such titles, because people are likely to develop all kinds of misconceptions based on a single word which you use to associate your own personal way of life. Why not just get to know somebody, and their ideas, and draw your own conclusions as to how their "way" relates to your own? Rather than taking the shortcut and allowing a single word to represent what you believe.
I'm sure many of you already know what I mean but thought I'd say it anyway

I voted Buddhism,
well because I am a buddhist :P
Whether or not I go the full way, become a monk and join a monastery, I am as yet, undecided.
