Shroom based religion

In the time since I first took shrooms (only a few months ago) I have greatly changed my perceptions on spirituality etc. It seems to me that mushrooms are a wonderful spiritual tool. would it be possible to create a religion that, in part of it's beliefs it incorporates the use of mushrooms, and not be able to be prossecuted for the use of mushrooms because it is part of your religious beliefs? now the religion itself would be one of total openess and sharing of experience/knowledge, but the mushrooms are really the important part. I doubt this is possible because there would be too much resistance to it being a "recognised religion" but its just a thought.

some of the oldest dating hindu books (upanishads) worshiped soma, or aminita muscaria, and there are many more....

in Canada, if we can get .3% of the population to say that they follow this religion, it becomes nationally accepted as a religion, and if we use mushrooms as part of our religious beliefs, then we should be allowed to use them without legal troubles :grin:

timothy leary says you can get your own religion (for like, one person tho, and a bunch of people can do it), by notarizing your religions charter, and promising not to use your sacraments outside of your religious practice. that would mean no tripping in public, only on your property. sounds good to me, lol :-)

There are some religious indian tribes out west that can legally grow and consume Mesciline and shit....the government totally complies with them.

What are you talking about, as long as you can prove that you are at least 1/4th native american you can be part of the native american church. Which means you can legaly grow and consume peyote as part of your religion.

It's been tried before in England and in Australia/New Zealand with a Jedi religion. I'm pretty sure the government didnt let it go through.

70,509 people declared themselves jedi's in the australian census when 10,000 would make it an officially recognized religion...however the government wrote them off as 'non declared'. bastards.
