Alien Biology
    #13080589 -

hi guys,

well this is what i have been thinking of recently.
think about this....
the possiblity of other life Not existing in the universe is less than the possibility of it existing. so what do i mean by all this.

imagine a whole differant planet. imagine how evolution would be on that planet. imagine what substance life would be dependant on. on earth everything is carbon based. what if it was silacon based in another planet what effects would it take on the things that live there. what if their sun had different frequncys of light. their eyes wouldnt reqognize our colours and we wouldnt theres . their whole body would be differnt they wouldnt have bones or viens or brains . they would have viens that would be so compact and togheter that it would be used at bones etc. imagine how we would meet them... if we could meet them . if we met them in their planet it would be so alien to use that our brains would not register anything and we would over load and die . think about these things the next time u are high.

Yep, silicon has four valence electrons, just like carbon.  So silicon based life is easily conceivable.  I'm pretty positive there is something out there.  I just don't believe they can get to our planet.  They'd need to travel faster than the speed of light, and the laws of our universe don't allow for that.

true ...
another intresting fact i found was that the speed of light isnt an actual speed it is a conversion number.

for example

28 Grams is a ounce
well
the speed of light is the physical conversion between time and space so the fastest u can posibly travel is the speed of light because it u travel faster than it u travel faster than time which is time travel LOL

Why cant it be both?  I think it is both.

I dont know about not being able to register it and just dying from that but it indeed would be bind blowing. Imagine what that ecosystem would be like on that planet. It'd be like a different dimension.

Maybe you're using the wrong scale for measurement.
Instead of saying that extraterrestrial lives at the other end of 100 billion light years of space, how about that extraterrestrial lives at the other end of 6 grams of Psilocybin. Alternate dimensions, so vastly disguised that we don't know what hit us when it happens.

Considering the fact that our brains don't overload and shut down on DMT, it wouldn't happen in this case either.

Science has yet to understand how life works in relation to an organism's body. In other words we can't give a dead organism life again because we don't understand how it had life to begin with. Perhaps a physical body isn't needed at all for life to inhabit our universe. Maybe all that is needed is an energy field for a life-force to manifest.

I believe that aliens have somehow discovered interstellar travel without having to exceed the speed of light. I also believe that they've already found us.

Silicon-based life would probably be the most surreal lifeforms.  One could imagine that they'd have a more glassy, metallic, or almost robot-like appearance compared to earthly life.  Even with carbon-based life, however, one can imagine some wild possibilities.  What I think would be interesting is to consider the different kingdoms of life that would exist.  On earth, we have kingdoms for things like plants, animals, fungi, eukaryotes, and prokaryotes, etc.  Consider that on other planets, the plant/animal division might not exist, and there might be lifeforms that have characteristics of both, or other characteristics of which we couldn't even conceive.

How about it? Do you understand the concepts of fantasy and imagination?

silicon might form itself into biomolecules in science-fiction..but the reality is very different ..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypothetical_types_of_biochemistry#Silicon_biochemistry

Quote:
But silicon has several drawbacks as a carbon alternative. Silicon, unlike carbon, lacks the ability to form chemical bonds with diverse types of atoms—this permits the chemical versatility necessary for metabolism. Elements creating organic functional groups with carbon include hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur, and metals such as iron, magnesium, and zinc. On the other hand, silicon interacts with very few other types of atoms.[3] Moreover, where it does interact with other atoms, silicon creates molecules that "are monotonous compared with the combinatorial universe of organic macromolecules."[3] This is because silicon atoms are much bigger, having a larger mass and atomic radius, and so have difficulty forming double or triple covalent bonds, which are important for a biochemical system.

Silanes, which are chemical compounds of hydrogen and silicon that are analogous to the alkane hydrocarbons, are highly reactive with water, and long-chain silanes spontaneously decompose. Molecules incorporating polymers of alternating silicon and oxygen atoms instead of direct bonds between silicon, known collectively as silicones, are much more stable. It has been suggested that silicone-based chemicals would be more stable than equivalent hydrocarbons in a sulfuric-acid-rich environment, as is found in some extraterrestrial locations.[4] Complex long-chain silicone molecules are still less stable than their carbon counterparts.

based on that..a "silicon life form" is not likely to be one where the silicon forms itself into DNA-like chains...

That doesn't preclude life based on silicon or some other element with a viable electronic conformation.

Even here on Earth we have prions that posses many of the properties of life, like replication, but lack DNA.

Yes, psilocybin gives us access to something that is here all the time. I think 6 grams of psilocybin is a pretty big does.

Yes, our brains, not any inter-dimensional beings.

I have access to my brain at all times. I only have access to inter-dimensional beings on psilocybin.

I'm pretty sure he was joking. You should research DMT if you haven't already.

Oh, then that is really funny.

I would like to try ayahuasca sometime, but I think that mushrooms work well enough for me. I don't think smoking DMT would be very productive it sounds like things happen too quickly to really accomplish anything.

I love how quickly this discussion devolved into an argument over DMT elves.
