Tesco are currently selling Nature's Garden WBS 2 for £5.

Now it's not the cheapest WBS even with the offer on (2.5kg for £5) but it's the one which my B+ and Golden Teacher seem to like best.

Additionally they're also selling 3 x 600ml "Food Savers" for £1.20. These are pressure cooker safe although in a squareish shape so you may not be able to fit as many in the pressure cooker as traditional jars.

Hope this helps.

Shipping's about £5. I'm not sure if it's the right stuff though as it seems to be flakes of bran rather than powderised. Not sure how well it'd work.

Whats hamloaf using? Is it powered? I also wonder what cereals that bran is from. I would guess grains, not rice. Dont think It would make much difference.

dude I did the jam thing for  a dozen jars. Finally got some glasses from asda 6 for £2. I think Sainsburys has some similar. They work the exact same. there about the same size/shape.I use the recipe for 5 for 4 just to make em a little bit bigger;). Loads cheaper and I wish I would have got them in the beginning. I'm sick of jam now.

I'm a big believer in the drinking glasses with foil lids.  Never failed me yet.  As I mentioned up-thread, Sainsbury's has 4-packs of good-quality ones in store for a fiver: http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/sol/shop/home_and_garden/dining_room/117459923_tu_tumblers_4pack.html?hnav=4294960482

I don't bother with jars anymore

Yeah I'm not sure if asda has the 6 for 2£ still but they did a week or two ago. Really good deal. 4 for 5£ still not bad though.

Totally get the price advantage of glasses, but think as im just starting out diy jars with injection ports and filter will give me the flexibility to try more techniques PF to LC in the same equipment. :pipesmoke:

Thats cool if your not strapped for cash. Not a bad idea actually. Just a pain in the ass to make 4 IP's and a filter on each lid.

Oh and I was wondering what pc's you guys are using and how much you can fit in them.

I have a 2 Prestige 6 liter high dome PC's. I can fit 4 750g dolmio jars in it. Not to bad.

It's not about the price for me.  Glasses are just better IMO.  Poke a tiny hole in the foil to inoculate, then stick micropore tape over the hole.  The dry verm layer makes the micropore tape optional.  I no longer use it.

For LCs, I recommend Boots own-brand "wide mouth feeding bottle" baby bottles (self-healing with a bit of silicone).  Search for baby bottle tek.

For the RTV silicone Poundland do the red stuff and your looking at 1/5 the price you pay on eBay!

Also, I just did the citric sponge inoculation tek.(inoculate through a alcohol soaked sponge, instead of in a glove box) Finding the hole in the lids was hard through it. Going through the foil of the glasses with foil for the lid was a breeze.

Good find newbie_shroomie.

Anyone interested in a buying some spawn bags? Annforfungi.com just got in some 3T bags with the 5 micron filters. She also has the #14 bags that have a .2 micron filter.

The more we buy at once the cheaper it gets. If you have some interest please post here.
