AAHHHHHH i only want like 4 jars. They want like £1,000,000 postage
Dang, I'm an idiot . 31.5cm circumference. 9.5cm diameter.
I can fit one standing up in my little (6L?) prestige 'high dome' PC from Argos, and another lying horizontally on top, if I'm feeling naughty.

Can somebody in the UK suggest a cheap hygrometer which does accually read up too 95-99 RH? What i've found from companies is that they have no idea what there talking about and so only tell me what it reads on the face, same goes with eBay and so I keep losing money on hygrometers.....

Shit I need a hygrometer too. I cant afford to spent like 15 squid on one either. Almost wondering if I can manage with out one. I'm doing a 110 liter shotgun with 30 liters(before it was packaged ) perlite in the bottom. I'm thinking if i get condensation on the sides i should be fine?
PS 110 liter tubs at Wilkinson's for 8 quid. Also have 5 liters of perlite or verm for £1.50. there were just on offer for 2 for 2

The one linked in the first post is a good hygrometer. I bought one. But yeah it's £14. http://www.kimbosreptileworld.co.uk/dial-hair-hygrometers-p-77.html
Also thanks to whomever it was that suggested these 6500K bulbs. I think my previous 'daylight' bulb was in the right range, but since the packaging here almost never says what the colour temp is...

if you still have these hygrometers,do as the site linked to in the OP suggests:
"Simply wrap the hygrometer in a wet towel for 2 minutes, then check the reading which should be 100%" link
if the ones you have are not adjustable,do the above and allow for any inaccuracy. ie.if,after the "wet towel" treatment, you get a reading of 90% you can assume that the actual RH is nearer 100%.

Condensation does not mean the humidity is 95%-100% it just means there is a difference of temp inside the chamber compared to the outside.
If I use a wet cloth with the ones I have got they just max out at 80%. If I force the face round then when the true global RH is 60% then my hygrometer will state 80%. There is no way of knowing if the 80% means 80 or 90 or 95.

Sorry mate, but that advice isn't correct, the hygrometers dont adjust that fast so 2 mins is useless. What has always worked for me is to wrap in a damp towl overnight and in the morning move the guage up to the 99% mark (ie all the way up).

i dont know mate but i just got a 3kg bag for £7 from a company called greencity wholefoods, works out about the same, pluss i got it via a 3rd party so i dont know how mutch cheaper i would have got it if i would have ordered straight from them.
btw has anyone used the 25ml sterile water sachets you get from the chemist for making up syringes,in the past i always just boiled water for an hour and a half, sucked it up and left it to cool but these sachets are only 44p out the chemist and would save a lot of hassle.

Yeah man that was me that slipped that in a while ago. More like £1.29 but its the best and cheapest place I've found to buy it (that isn't on the net)

I got some from there, it was good stuff. I don't remember the price I'm afraid, but it wasn't much anyway.

Oh and for some reason when I searched ebay the other day for hygrometers only like 3 showed up that were from china. Must have been my spelling or something. Now theres loads on there.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Exo-Terra-Hygrometer-/190392347757?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Reptiles_Spiders_Insects&hash=item2c5444ac6d That one is only 2.25 shipped. Anyone have any experience with it?
0 - 100 range on it.
EDIT: just realised that its not adjustable. Does that matter? cant i just do a towel test and see what it is and compare? I also think I have a digital one around the house? Whats the cons of using digital of any?

Digital are known for being very inaccurate at high RH values. And yes it makes a huge difference being able to manually calibrate your analog hygrometer, you want to always calibrate it to 100% after being in a wet towel for 1 hour

There a couple of places.
Firstly search Vacutainers in google UK and you should find 'em.
GUI Clinic..... They are lying round everywhere and when the Doc goes to put your sample under the microscope (Say you have irratable symptoms) you can pick up a load as you should know what they look like if you search google.
