"If the "majority" is not in power, then it follows that a priveledged minority is. Who are these minorities, and what endows them with the right to choose for everyone else?"

Read the US Constitution if you are interested in the basic details of our government structure. Here's a peek:

Article I

Section 1. All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.

Section 2. The House of Representatives shall be composed of members chosen every second year by the people of the several states, and the electors in each state shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the state legislature.

You see, in our country we have decided to vest legislative and executive power in a small number of representatives who may or may not directly represent the will of the people. But this is why we have implemented this system. We have acknowledged the value in compromising the will of the majority with the power of an elected elite. Both are dangerous. But one or the other alone would be far more dangerous. Mob rule vs. Totalitariansim.

"If someone holds arbitrary power over my life, without my consent, then I believe I may give myself the same over him.(In other words; the fucker's gonna have 3 clips emptied in his skull)"

I agree 100% percent. And so did our "forefathers":

From the Declaration of Independence: ....That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government....

....that's not to say that revolutions should be implemented rashly because a small minority feels disillusioned
