Re: My relationship with God [Re: youbreakyoubuy]

Is this an empirical relationship?

no.

we could experimentally prove that i am able to know things that are usually unavailable to me.. and exhibit abilities  some would consider paranormal...
but i doubt that i could prove that it is "God"... being that this word is still subject to debate.
if i told you that it was me - you might call me egotistic
if i said that it was you - you might think i am trying to manipulate you
if i said it was everything - your inability to recognize this would make my efforts futile.

i will leave it up to you - then you might think that i am giving you complete freedom to decide ..
that is the only god I would want to have a relationship with..
utterly respectful of my free choices
perhaps... that is why some feel god... and some dont.
we are given the choice to recognize it... or disregard it..

Can you pin down the last time that you were responded to?  How many times in a month?  How many times in a year?

everyday...
all the time

but.. to be able to actually pose questions and get responses on demand , this would require special circumstances and personal effort to quiet down my ego in order to allow contact.
for me... mushrooms do the trick in cooperation with me.
that is another form of being that i have a  relationship with.

i wish you dont see my large response as an attempt to influence your beliefs in any way..
i am merely being as honest as the question you pose.

my bro listened to me express information that was totally foreign to him and myself on a heavy trip.  i have had voices express information in my mind that was and still is completely foreign to me.  though that really doesn't prove anything to you.  the proof is in the experience.

That happens to me too and I don't think it's proof of any god.

Relationship means to communicate and interact with another. It is a two-way deal; an exchange. It requires both parties to respond to one another.

For example; one can be related to a coma victim, but cannot have a current and  active relationship with him/her.

As God is totally non-responsive; it is impossble to have a relationship with it.

Amen.

If a family member was in a coma, would you abandon them. God is in a coma and it helps to talk to him.

Every expiration (ex-spir[e] out-breath/death) that is followed by an inspiration (in-spir[e]: to be filled by breath/spirit) is response from the Author of Life. If you cannot grok that, then you cannot grok that. What do you expect, to hear voices - perhaps from a burning bush that is not consumed? As the Muslims say: 'God is closer to you than your own jugular vein." Indeed, the blood flow from head to heart is external, relative to the inwardness of Life that suffuses us. The harmony of living in a naturally balanced sphere of existence, just so far from the Sun, with oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere which gave rise to a life-form (us) which philosophizes is evidence enough to any Platonist, Neo-Platonist, Transcendentalist, etc. The evidence is obvious, the realization subtle. Perhaps your dashed expectations need to be dashed if you're still carrying the myth of pure theism in which God is utterly unrelated to our being. Only then is the question relevant. A panentheistic take on God (and there are many) does not remove God radically from human beinghood. We derive moment-to-moment existence from the Ocean of Being of which we are all temporary waves.

God is irrelevant. A being that we can not detect the existence of and who has no impact on our daily lives is not worth worrying about. If there is a God it obviously does not care if we consider it daily or not. I hope that any God would have seen the folly of self importance beforehand and refrain from indulging in it. So your communication is not required either way. It is more productive to concern ourselves with out current perceptions and experiences and let God take care of itself.

No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

Gotta agree. I don't see the point in trying to explain it to anyone.

I don't anthropomorphize god, I don't think you need to worship or have a human relationship. I can see that it is there and I can learn how the system works. So understanding god can have an impact on your life.

I do not expect anything. Relationship with God = relationship with imagination.
