"Give me Immortality or give me Death"
    #10487523 -

Famous words, but what do they mean?

Tell me oh wise ones.:satansmoking:

--------------------
"Don't believe everything you think". -Anom.

" All that lives was born to die"-Anom.

With much wisdom comes much sorrow,
The more knowledge, the more grief.
Ecclesiastes circa 350 BC

Take away the burden of knowing that I will one day die by having me live forever, or just end my life already because I am tired of living the life of a coward, with this underlying pressure that haunts my every thought and action.

Yes, it is the truth -

According to God and His written word, the Bible, after we die, and are buried in our hell (that is our GRAVE), we await our resurrection.

Either the first resurrection to immortality with God in Heaven, or

The Second resurrection to face God and His punishment for being sinners -

And that will be the second death !

It means that your memory is almost gone. Those words are NOT a famous saying, but the title of a Firesign comedy album.

Nice try, Patrick Henry. Now back to retirement with ye. :pirate:

That's one of their best. I was listening to it just this morning (pure coincidence)

I find that a profound title. Those guys rock.

Are you sure it was this morning and not 20 years ago?

Twenty years ago I was lost in the future. Now I've finally caught up to my past. There will be no present until Christmas.

I am going to have to go with this...

This is true, what is a life worth living when it is finite? Well, it really isn't. But who the fuck cares? Let's get high dude

Either or those two options would relieve me of this horrid feeling of uncertainy, insecurity, and the perpetual fear that comes with being alive.

why there is reality and patterned, law-like consistency at all, rather than noise or non-reality is not a question physics answers. It's a question physics presupposes an answer to in order to provide other answers.

Most would agree and all our religions were created to assure us our infinite existence.

But tell me again why a finite life isn't worth living. I think if one is actually living then it doesn't matter. It's only when, IMO, we feel like we haven't made much of this life or enjoyed it or participated fully that we feel we need a future to make that happen.

Lately I've been mulling this over some.  I think life is ultimately just as worthless as death, but since we're already alive we might as well make the most of it... death is an unknown evil compared to the known evil of life.

It's a more interesting question whether or not to have children; is it moral to create a new life knowing full well they are being born with an inevitable death sentence?
