all illness and injury is psychosomatic, and so long as you do not give into the nihilistic blackness you are immortal. I learned of this on my seconed mushroom trip.

Careful with those sorts of responses around here...someone might take you seriously and start a religion.

A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

On my second mushroom trip, I learned I really was going to die and I better start living.

I guess you're talking about immortality of the body, not the soul.
Who would want immortality of the body? You would spend 99.99999% of your existence very confused and senile!
Even the Earth is not immortal. The time that this planet is able to support life is but the blink of an eye, in relation to cosmic cycles. So what then? Your body is immortal, but the Earth can't support life anymore - what are you going to do?
Immortality of the soul - now that's another matter. You already have it. You always have, and always will.

In Jainism everyone is viewed as an immortal aka god/goddess.

I think Burroughs wrote something interesting about writer?s immortality. You are your memories and thought patterns carried by flesh vehicle. Writer transfers his thought patterns to readers, and therefore becomes immortal.

Of course I mean Edgar Rice Burroughs while he was writing those Mars stories in shrooms.
