I'd rather appear solid than have a mind so open that my brains have fallen out.

That you won't find...anywhere...

closed minds are pretty solid.

Clinging to beliefs in the face of evidence against their validity only provides the temporary illusion of solidity, IMO.

My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Only that nothing solid is to be found in any experience, ever.  All appearances are empty.

That is, if I have a point, which I'm not sure I did when I started typing.  Do I have to have one?

So how are you different then ?

Also, I thought this was a good point.  What the thinker thinks, the prover proves, etc...

I know this. The Ayahuasca forum guys are snobs. When I told them I was a self trained shaman they started gushing baloney about needing to trained by a "native shaman". Native shaman? You mean some drunk who fleeces the tourists with a fake little ceremony and a drink or two of Ayahuasca? I can handle more drugs than any of them...bastards.

Hold on there now. If properly made it's got a hell of a kick! If you happen to be in the men's room of McDonalds when the purging starts it can be intense! Just because those jackasses named their forum after it is no reason to lump it in with everything else. In fact I don't even lump them together at all. They are all different.

There are a few contrary old bastards here, but few real snobs.

I have never done ayahuasca, but I have never heard an ayahuasca experience that I haven't had the same thing happen on mushrooms.

Seriously, it is different. There are some commonalities, but many differences. The auditory part of the experience is much more pronounced.

I compared the Aya purge to a frat party kegger purge and they went ballistic.

"NO, NO, NO! It is NOT your body rejecting plant tannins and the increased body serotonin levels that causes nausea, but your holding onto old emotional traumas that are let go when you purge."

Um, OK, but how come people still purge after hundreds of trips? Are their infinite emotional traumas that need purging?

"GTFO!"

Actually it is the harmaline that does the trick. I once took the harmaline alone in the same amount and got all purge...no trip :frown:
The purging can become quite emotional, but it can also be good. If you take a shower after such a purge you feel real clean...inside and out!

I can be a mushroom shaman. We don't purge unless we have orange juice.

The harmaline may be enough alone to set you off, but the other two factors are clear contributors. Do a Google search on serotonin and nausea.

Mushroom shaman are pussies compared to ayahuascueros.
