Heaven and Hell were ideas created by men to control men, under the guise of religion.
I say consciousness, like matter and energy, cannot be created nor destroyed, it simply changes form.

I beleive it goes deeper than that. Religions, such as Christianity has been used for control. But the idea of heaven and hell would have gone way farther than that, probably to primitive times. Heaven and hell are used to describe states that exist while living, which we create.

I meant Heaven and Hell as an afterlife, not as a state of being in this life...

> What are you opinions on the existence of bad/good afterlives?
Don't know. At the highest level, everything's cool (including suffering), so there's nothing to worry about. The lower levels which are concerned with those things die (I think), so why should they worry?
> Personally, at this time, I hold the opinion that when you die your dying > mind doesnt comprehend time or reality any more.. Your consciousness is thus > stuck forever at the end of your life.
I've had that idea before. I thought it would hurt then, but now I'm not sure. Wouldn't the mechanisms which make pain (which feels like a minor orgasm in truth) 'unpleasant' break down?
> Depending on how you have developed yourself, and how you feel about that > development- you will be in your own heaven or hell..
I hope that when I die, I'll be at peace, in my natural state. Anything other than nothing is a level of unrest. No more unrest/action, just nothing.
> Sure, it may be a bit psuedo-scientific and all, but i think it suits my > beliefs for now..
I say it's stupid to fear death when I fear it, so I can do the same with you. Fear is a evolutionary artifact which has no place in the realized mind. It's not a warning or a message which 'I' 'must' react to. It's my ego, up to his old tricks. Call him on it. He's the one who feels all the pain, so he can only hurt himself.
In short, fear is stupid and has no use. There is nothing to be afraid of anywhere. You could murder your entire family, gouge out your own eyeballs, and spend life blind in prison, and your consciousness would be just fine. Accept it and love the beauty of it's sublime darkness. I'm talking to myself as much as you here. When it comes to 'bad trip advice' (whether trips are involved or not) there never seems to be much distinction.

I dont exactly know what you mean, of course, the idea of heaven and hell seem rather ridiculous to me.. I suppose after dying our consciousness may experience something wonderful or something horrible, but I dont think our prior life's experiences have anything to do with it...
I dont think our actions in this life have any impact on our next, unless karma is real, then maybe heaven and hell do exist in a.. subjective manner...

All that fits within the idea that we are all one, really.. Although I have no idea what the soul is, as an individual thing. I used to.. I think I reprogrammed myself too severly. Oh well..

Oh I see. There is the buddhists idea about hell and heaven as after life, but that would also be while living. But anyways, metaphor, metaphor, metaphor.

I see what you mean. Try and forgive my belligerent attitude, I'm quite drunk at the moment..
I used to think the same, that after life depended on the persons thoughts and feelings..
