Ah, but the decoding on the receiving end is often (usually?) inaccurate.  If we were truly psychic, literally sharing thoughts, there could be no mistaking someone's expression.

Unless it was a lie, or some other mind clutter that was going on at the time of the "receiving"....
The "decoding" part doesn't go away, as there would be just as much chance for misinterpretation....

I deeply believe this to be the case.

Most people seem to think that their thoughts are completely private. I think they exist "somewhere" and they can be experienced by other sentient beings who have access to this "somewhere" ... even without our knowing it.

But if this were the case do you really think an entity would take an interest in you personally? Think about it there are billions of people on earth so chances are you will seem pretty average... not to mention all the other animals out there with interesting thoughts.

I don't think it happens in my mind like that, it wonders all over the place - especially if I am not focusing on something in particular....

Now, I can decode what is going on in my own mind, but I am pretty sure that I would have a difficult time decoding someone else's thought patterns....
Lots of room for misinterpretation, I would venture to say more so than regular vocal conversation....

Well I'm thinking of it as basically getting right into the same point of view as that other person.  Not only access to their immediate thought patterns, but also their memories and ways of thinking.  Accessing their entire mind.

It would be sort of like learning a new language for each person you psychically "swapped" with.

You could end up knowing more about that person then they knew themselves if you could get into their subconscious. :crazy2:
