Christianity
    #8139984 -

It's still lingering itself unto my being like a tapeworm. Can you guys tell me how to get rid of it in a humane manner? It's been a slooooooooow process for me it seems. Can you guys give a couple examples of why there's no way Christianity can be the truth to help me get rid of this mugga fugga!? Later guys. This probably sounds retarded but I'm on downers lol.

It should be your call and no-one else's. If it doesn't work for you then let it be. If it does then keep it. Even if you know it's wrong sometimes it helps to have something to believe in. Or not, your decision.

You could always try to work for change, and be the "good" kind of Christian. If your brain runs on Jesus, there's nothing wrong in working with it rather than trying to just forget it.

Or if you really can't stand the idea of being any kind of Christian, take up Buddhism or something, sheesh.

can't really help you, but i saw a lady today, while driving, who had all these christian bumper-stickers on her car who was speeding the whole time i was behind her (bible says to follow all laws of your gov't). she gave a thumbs up and dirty look to a guy in a truck who ran a redlight, then no more than a minute later (while still speeding) ran two red lights herself.

if my driver window rolled down, i would've yelled out the window to her and given her a thumbs up

Christianity is so simplistic. Good, bad, heaven, hell, god either loves you or hates you. Just a simple black and white way of thought. If theres one thing i know about the universe, its not simple in any way shape or form.

Just give it up and let psychedelics be your god.
They`ve done more for me than religion ever did.

Yeah shaking ingrained fears can be a bitch...I had Christianity pounded into my head as a kid. My step father had been a catholic priest at one point in his life, and used to treat me like a seminary student.

Try these on for getting that last little bit of doubt out of your head.

James 1:13 says "..for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man

Gen 22:1 says "And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham

Check out the Sumerian legends, much older, and much more reliable than the bible or the Torah.

The bible is filled with errors, just google bible inconsistencies you could spend hours reading all of them.

One of my favorites..In the book of Matthew, Jesus claimed that he would return within their lifetime. Unless there are some really old jews that I dont know about, its not gonna happen.

Also the Similarities between the new testament, and buddha

Probably one of the biggest events for me is shaking my last little bit of questioning about Christianity, and religion in general was experiencing samhadi...experiencing you own mind, and everything it is capable of for the first time in your life will blow you away.(at least it did me) I highly suggest meditation.

I could keep going on for pages, and not even scratch the surface. Overall if you really look at the information, its all pretty ridiculous. Christianity along with most religions IMO are just self constructed schemes to deal with the fear of death, and guilt. As far as I'm concerned, I dont need that hang up...Hail Satan..lol(satanism is even more ridiculous)

I think that there are "truths" in Christianity that are what makes it hard to shed the religion totally. Disregarding people who call themselves Christian but looking at the religion itself, there are some things that are worth holding onto.

Love. Especially in the New Testament where it's emphasized. That's something to keep. Loving other people, loving yourself, caring about others. What's wrong with holding onto that?

Respect for others, another thing that can be an asset to your outlook.

I'm not a practicing Christian, I agree that there are problems with the whole thing, but there is still some value there too.

The reason I have no sympathy for Christianity and other gnostic (good versus evil) religions, is that one must make some sort of repetitive thought domain in their mind which is sacrosanct, and my mind simply refuses to do that.

My mind doesn't retain religious belief. Thus, my advice to you, if you wish to eradicate the Christian meme from your thinking is to just not touch it, just as you would steer clear of a syphilitic whore.

You won't get clear by fucking that bitch. Just leave that ho alone.

Love, and respect certainly didn't originate from Christianity, and you dont need to "hold onto it" as if anyone without Christian ideals is a hateful, disrespectful douche. To be honest I havent seen many examples of Christian actions evolving out of love or respect for anyone. More often even loving acts such as feeding the poor are only an ignorant excuse to convert the lowly heathens from their fate in a fiery godless afterlife. Ive experienced far more loving feelings towards my fellow man by simply recognizing them as someone just like me with the same impulses, fears, and desires for happiness as me. Im not saying all religious people are stupid, and petty, but most stupid and petty people are religious.

I understand you completely. If you are like me and were severely indoctrinated in youth to the negative aspects of religion it will be unlikely to ever completely eradicate them. You can get better however although you may be sad to hear that that very slow pace is the norm.

I beleive jesus existed, but I also beleive that interpretation has been lost through the centuries, and its become more of a scare tactic to keep peace and order.I think everyone ought to have something they beleive in,I dont think one certain faith is right or wrong.I beleive jesus studied numerous religions.I spent some years trying to live by a strict code and realized that I didnt feel natural living like that. (more of a show)So in my oppinion reef, live a loving life, know that your only human and stick to your beliefs. To many people are turned off from religion because bible thumpers make it out to be harder than it is. If you want my 2 cents

"There is a world beyond ours, a world that is far away, nearby, and invisible. And there it is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints, a world where everything has already happened and everything is known. That world talks. It has a language of its own. I report what it says. The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and brings me to the world where everything is known. It is they, the sacred mushrooms, that speak in a way I can understand. I ask them and they answer me. When I return from the trip that I have taken with them, I tell what they have told me and what they have shown me."

I didn't say these things originated with Christianity. I said some of the things Chrisitianity promotes are worthwhile. My personal choice is to take the best of what each religion offers and discard the rest.

I have seen loving acts by Chrisitians and non-Christians alike. Not all were done just for evangelistic reasons.

And the only person using the word douche here is you.

Its a fantastic word...douche. However the point im trying to make is that you dont need to take kindness, compassion, respect, or anything else from Christianity or any other religion. All of these ideals come from people just like the religions that misuse them. If you want to be kind just be kind no belief system required.
