I'm not saying it's a religious cover up, it is however weird.

The active wood loving psilocybe mushroom naturally occur in temperate river valleys, as do Gymnopilus. Panaeolus subbalteatus occurs just about everywhere there is horse shit. It is in fact, weird, with all the effort that the Europeans invested in exploring the natural world and mapping the species of the world, that no one stumbled across the fact that these mushrooms are psychoactive.

I'll leave it for others to dig up a conspiracy, to me the lack of mention of the hallucinogenic nature of these mushrooms is odd.

For instance,

Panaeolus subbalteatus is a weed in the mushroom industry, especially the way that the were growing them in Europe a hundred years ago.

The French will eat anything. (I know this a stretch, but not much of one, look at some old French cookbooks.)

The French were growing button mushrooms using less than an ideal methods a hundred years ago.

The French should have been seeing a lot of Panaeolus subbalteatus as a weed in their mushroom beds.

 To me it is odd that there is no French literature that mentions them as an hallucinogen.

http://www.iamshaman.com/amanita/jesus.htm

real hard man, just put in "jesus and mushrooms" in google and there you go. A very good and explained theory that jesus and moses ingested amanita muscaria. The people at the site believe that on mount sania at the time amanita muscaria was abundant.

Also http://www.iamshaman.com/amanita/mosesfireplant.htm

and read all the links at the bottom.

This is old news as i read this site like last year.

F_G: "from what I understand, they require high humidity, and consistently warm temperatures."

Actually Azurescens won't fruit until temperatures drop below freezing.

If you read Genesis (KJV) it clearly states that moses and his crew were in the 'WILDERNESS' and they found the bread from heaven in a 'FIELD'.

I like Jesus is Mushroom (Eat my flesh drink my blood) rather than a literal man named jesus ate mushrooms.
