You say you want a revolution?
    #6278309 -

Well, you know, we all wanna change the world.

http://www.freehugscampaign.org/

This guy is the real deal.  No big fund-raising campaigns, no televised pleas for participation, just putting himself out there with his heart on his sleeve.  Offering others that which HE most wanted--love, acceptance, human connection.

This is MY kind of revolution!

  :congrats:

Icelander did it at Burning Man a few years ago.  I prefer offering free back scratches, as it seems less-threatening.

I was at this party the other night, everyone was walking around with huge pupils, we were all givng hugs> huggin strangeres and eachother. Then we all sat down and talked about william shatner for fifty minutes around the camp fire. William shatner was on the tips of everyone's tongues and hugs were aplenty. Someone even gave me a boggin cause he said he could see my ears cracking off and falling o the gound and shattering. it was below thirty. I could hardly tell tho, the vibe was so warm.

hugs rule.

He was with a group called "The Love Ho's," who had an ongoing cuddle party in their camp, in addition to their outreach efforts (offering hugs and love to passersby).

We hosted a few local cuddle parties, with great response.  It is really wonderful to touch and "love on" others in a non-sexual, relaxed manner.  Everyone was high after about 15 minutes of cuddling, and everyone left looking younger and happier.

I've been seriously missing this kind of thing. Being stuck in a new town, without a significant other I find myself seriously in deficit of basic human touch and that’s not good. Seeing this, I’m extremely motivated to start a free hug campaign or cuddle parties.

Did you invite random strangers to the parties too? Is there a how-to for this or do people just hug each other?

In metropolitan areas, they charge for admission to club-based cuddle parties.   We printed invitations & handed them out, plus told others to invite friends, plus posted an invitation in the employee log at our local food co-op.  It wasn't quite random strangers, but we only knew a few of the people who showed up.

I had some fascinating conversations with people who wanted to come, but were too afraid.  Even considering attending a cuddle party brought up ALL of their insecurities and woundedness.

Here are the basic cuddle party rules:

http://www.cuddlela.com/rules.html

We were the "lifeguards," and available to anyone who needed assistance or extra support, as well as on the lookout for rule violations (there were none).

Go for it!!

All right! I’m really hyped up about this. I think I’m going to organize a cuddle party for friends and acquaintances first and see how that goes. Thanks for the idea, Veritas! You made my day.

Enjoy your cuddle party, dear!! Perhaps your group will be inspired by the experience & want to take it "public" by giving out hugs.  :sun:

When I read a sign that says "Free hugs" the phrase that registers in my mind is "Free wallet."

I'm sorry , that sounds like a painful framework for experiencing life.  Are you joking, or do you really see those offering affection to strangers as thieves and con artists?

No. I see those offering affection to strangers as easy targets.

Ahh, I see.  You believe that they are making themselves too vulnerable, risking too much?  What if expressing their values is worth far more to them than anything in their wallet?

Then I'll have their wallet and they'll have my hug.

I finally watched the video. Wow! It brought tears to my eyes. It is such a lonely world without love. To reach out beyond your safety zone is an act of true courage. I am in awe of the spirit in that man. I choose to be touched to my core. If I don't I will eventually freeze to death. :mushroom2:
