christian person trying to spread the gospel to you, what to say?

I was sitting at the docks frishin and this lady came to me and was like do you go to church. I said no (wrong answer should of said yes). She went on and on about how there are allot of miracles happening in her church, people are being saved, baby's born and the other Sunday the spirit was just so strong in the presence the preacher didn't even have a sermon they just all sang and praised the lord and the spirit was flowing through the house blah blah blah. You cant just tell em you don't feel like it and don't want to go. Thats when they go into this spill about how important it is and how the lord will change your life and you need to be saved because the judgment day is coming.  they can see it in your eyes that you need help and all sorts of bull. Eventually I was just like I have to leave and I told her ill think about it and walked away.

I mean this chick messed up my fishing. I know allot of you probably would of blabbed off about how the bible is crap and its all fairy tales but in RL when it happens i couldn't do anything like that cause I'm not a jerk like that and i don't have a personal problem with people who go to church and like Jesus. i just don't want them messing up my fishing.

Whats a good honest straight forward answer to give that will let them know that they are not going to get you to go? And make them leave too!

I dont want to say anything mean, just something that will show her she has no chance at getting me to go to church with her.

Well i guess that could be the perfect thing to say

Tell her you don't think that there is any magical being floating around. Then say there is 30,000 different religions, how does she know hers is right. Or you could play it off saying something like "Mushrooms saved my life, they are my personal lord and savior." Then again you could say Jesus sodomized you at a young age! lol

Tell her that you refuse to live your life by the ideals of man passed down for thousands of years.  And some preacher who "feels" that he is so overcome with the spirit of God that he cannot speak, is just a lunatic.  Then tell her that she doesn't know truth, nor how to be saved, because most christians are conservative; therefore, the are going to hell...  :laugh:

In situations like these the ego is eager to jump in and defend itself. Try to resist that. Instead, ask the woman about herself. Make friends with her. Smile at her and listen to what she says. If she's being preachy in an obnoxious or rude way, smile even bigger. And allow her the last word. The least you can get out of this is amusement and walk away thinking, "what an interesting person..."

Strive always to find the highest common factor between yourself and others...

Honestly, I always enjoy a conversation with a street preacher. They are usually quite unique people with aloat of passion for spirituality, and from my experience they are rarely the judgemental type of Christians. They are quite talkative. If you don't want to talk about Christianity, just change the subject.

No, pushing your ideals on a complete stranger is being a complete asshole. I find the best response to these types of people is to say something that will make them go away and think very seriously about stopping their rediculous prosyltizing (sp?)

If you wanted to go to church you would, and since you obviously don't, it's none of that woman's goddamned business. Let her know so.

Where I live there's alot of street preachers, some of them even giving out food to the homeless. Look, as long as she's not laying the fire and brimstone crap on you, there's no need to be a complete jerk. Some lady discussing the joy God brings to her is nothing to get fumed over unless you're a complete cry baby.

She was an older black woman. And she was so nice it was unreal so thats why I didn't make any rude remarks. Your ideas on how to behave in a situation like this is the most mature and thoughtful one Ive heard so far. These tell em you are the son of Satan guys are putting on a front for the internet because they know they wouldn't do that in RL.

She was one of them deeply spiritual people and I was entertained by her and I suppose if I stayed and talked with her I could of had fun playing mind games with her and getting her to tell me all about why its such a miracle that some baby's was born.

Its like yeah somebody got the long sh long laid to them thats just such a miraculous thing.  :rolleyes:

Your right, I wouldn't say "Satan is my lord" or something like that to them unless they actually pissed me off. I usually just say "I'm not interested" or "no thanks" and close the door. But any of that questioning their ideals stuff is just going to spark more debate, I thought you said you wanted to get rid of the person...
