Between my father and myself we have owned many dogs. I can say with no question that a pit bull is by far the least likely dog to bite another human. Only when they are beaten way beyond what another dog would endure will they bite a person. They are very territorial so you have to be careful around other dogs but they know the difference between a human and another animal.

If I'm playing around with my pit and he accidentally scratches me or scrapes me with a tooth all I have to say is "ouch" and he will stop playing and look at me in a scared(apologetic) manner. Pits were breed for their temperament and thus are, at least in my experience, the most reliable dog. I've had a German Shepherd, Springer Spaniel, Cocker Spaniel and been around too many dogs to name. Other dogs are great but they lack the um ... confidence a pit bull carries.

This is exactly what my dog does even as pup he got that look on his face and come over and lick the spot he scrathed me at!! so smart..
