Pits aren't all bad, peeps gotta be careful owning any kind of dog, even a Chihuahua could bite the shit out ur bAby.

The only difference with pits is they got a stronger bite, they're the sAme as any other dog, you treat them right they'll treat u right.

Beating a pit bull and holding it down would do nothing.  You would be a fool to attempt that.

protect yo neck is good advice.  They go for the neck and will kill you pretty quick.  There is not much you can do, they are bred to be tough, viscous killers and they are tough, vicious killers.  That is why people like them.

That flies in the face of genetics and selective breeding.  If what you say is true, why don't cops use pits as drug dogs?  Why don't navy seals use pits instead of german shepards?  Why dont manhunts use pits to find the person?  Or, use a pit to hunt ducks?  Because they are not the same as all other dogs.  Dogs are among the most diverse species of mammals out there.  Selective breeding and genetics have made every dog breed very different from the other.  If you think the proclivity to snap, bite and thrash is somehow immune to genetics and selective breeding then you are being willfully naive.

I work in a dog kennel and come across a lot of pit bulls. Almost all of them have to be crated and go out alone and have to be taken everywhere on a leash because they have a tendency to lunge at the other crated dogs. And these are "trained" pit bulls of wealthy people, not street pills of hood rats, mind you. Pit bulls are intentionally bred to be aggressive and dangerous. I have never personally been around a pit bull AT WORK that made me feel uncomfortable. There used to be two in my neighborhood who would wander around and who would bark at my heels when I would take walks but never bit me. I personally do not see any reason for the breed to exist. Rottweilers are much more intelligent, trainable, and companionable than pit bulls and are capable of providing all of the same home-defense needs that a pitbull can provide if you really feel that insecure. All of the owners who come to pick up pit bulls seems like the type who just want to show off their machismo, like "look at me, look at the type of dog I am in control of."

GOd people saying the people in the video aren't doing enough have NOT HAD TO TAKE DOWN A PITBULL

Oh and @ morrowwasted, that is very interesting input and you obviously have a good perspective to view this issue at. I don't see why any pure bred dog should really exist as a pure bred? Why can't we just mix their genes up to create healthier dogs? breeding dogs pure isn't helpful to their genetics it just gives them some kind of characteristic certain people like.

Well in the video there is someone with a bat. Why couldn't they start smashing them in the head? If someone was going to die (like that guy in the video because he very well could've died) those people should've been hitting them with the bat. One good hit to the skull with a bat & anything-a human or dog, would be down. Like I said before, their should be a law stating that all vicious dogs, pit-bulls included obviously, should be required to wear a muzzle in a residential area.

Damn, what's up with all these pit-bull lovers defending them? Simply look at the statistics. They are highly dangerous dogs.

That guy with the bat was a total pussy. y fav was the man who calmly walked the small child directly into the middle of the situation. But the prob with trying to beat a dog like that is very often when they are in this kinda frenzied state they tend to basically ignore and pain or injuries and only become more excited. pitbulls are pretty fast and agile dogs I think i would be hard to fight off two even with a bat without sustaining pretty bad injuries. WHile your swinging at one the other is tearing you apart. You can see in the vid koods posted old dewd was laying some pretty big blow on the dogs before he was dragged down with little effect. The water seems to make them step back n say wtf is that wtf is going on here.

True. You're right... I'd imagine you would still sustain some injuries even if you did have a bat. Aghhh fuck... How about they should've taken a gun & blew those mother fuckers to kingdom come & afterwards put one between the eyes just to make sure they're gone for good. One of those hoodlums had to have a gun. Agh shit! Never mind because then they run the risk of a stray bullet hitting a bystander or someone in the crowd. We humans just can't win against those savage dogs. Muzzle up those fucking beasts! :crazy:

I think the solution is responsible dog ownership and heavy penalties for this fucking shenanigans and maybe a permitted application prossess for owning dangerous dogs since a hand full of breeds seem to be doing basically all the serious dog attacks.

Recently, I have been thinking of how to survive a dog attack because I have been dog-sitting and see aggressive dogs on a regular basis now.

In my fantasy:

Dogs can't wrestle. Take them to the ground. Don't let the dog get on top. Use my weight to subdue the dog until help comes or you have no choice but to cause the dog serious harm.
Protect your vital body parts, head and neck, etc.
I'd use my size and strength to go for their vulnerable parts, like eyes and legs. A quick, heavy kick to most dogs legs would break the legs.
I have enough confidence in my kick strength and technique to injure anyone after doing muay-thai and kick-boxing.
Gouge their eyes..poke... stab.. whatever. Even if you break a leg or two and the dog is still raging, this could give you time to get away safely or get somewhere the dog can't reach with its broken legs.
