I wouldn't say I'm unduly scared of dogs, (I'm more affected by their other renowned traits, that of, barking at fuck all, and shitting everywhere) just wary of their ablity to rip lumps out of people.
I wouldn't, for example, have encouraged either of my daughters to 'pet' a strangers dog, any more than I would have encouraged them to accept lifts from strangers.

I am the leader and they do as I say.
They don't bite they don't jump up they listen like robots.
They will eat food amd drink water and go to the bathroom on command.
