What do you think about the tube feed woman debate?
    #3950306 - 03/21/05 07:33 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Me?
I say it's just another example of how messed up America's Christian community is, they got their priorities so messed up it's not even funny.
Cause I think that's what it's all about. The people who care about this are Christians. The kind of Christians who worry about protecting fetuses and oppressing homosexuals, the good ol American asshole Christians.
They support a president who murdered 10,000 Iraqis, don't give a damn about the Sudanese butchered, look away if abortion doctors are murdered by their own. who cares about all the animals who are slaughtered so they can have their good ol Christian steak and potatoes.
But oh wait, hold the phones! a vegetable with no hope of ever coming out of her coma might die???? stop the presses! it's a national x-tian rightous indignation emer-gency!!!

You'd think better things would come from such a righteous religion.

whats the point in keeping here alive?

i mean, let me get this straight she is so braindead that she would'nt even notice not being fed by her feeding tube, no?

as for as i'm conserned, she died way back in '90 or whatever, she is just a body, correct?

and if she can feel, would anyone on earth wanna sit in a hospital room laying in bed for 15 years?

for christ's sake, pull the plug already..

i think people think they are real compassionate when they try to keep her alive, which is not the case at all, she really is just baggage for her husband/family,,,we all die, you think she is gonna say thanks in the afterlife to everyone who kept her alive those extra 15 years trapped in that God forsaken hospital room? and that's if she is still alive enough to feel now, if she is completely dead of all feelings, it really does'nt matter than, nothing but extra baggage.

yeah, I mean...the problem is the parents want to keep her that way and whereas the husband has not yet gone insane. I'm gonna date myself with this reference but the parents remind me of Tom Petty in the Last Dance with Mary Jane video.

Whats funny is Bush supported a law as Texas governor saying that spouses had the final say in such matters. he is now clearly pandering to these Christian loonies by saying that she must live and pulling the feeding tube is murder. He said that we must "err on the side of life." The War President errs on the side of life? Since when? Did he err on the side of life during all those capital punishments during his stay as Texas governor? What about the 100,000 or so dead Iraqis?

The Vatican put out a message saying that the girl should stay alive and that pulling the feeding tube would be against God's will. They say let God decide (i.e. keep her alive and let her die on her own). Umm, since when was artifical life support God's will?

How bout it. When I heard last night the President of the U.S. of A., killing perfectly healthy and brain alive people in Iraq, was rearanging his schedule to deal with the fate of this one womans brain dead life to save it I choked on my sandwich.  :crazy2:

he's paying back all those Christians who voted him back into office. Karl Rove is all over this political move - but then again, he is an idiot, so perhaps he is sincere.

I think they should let her die. The most interesting thing about christians and their pro life bullshit is this; Christians, who claim to believe in Heaven, and claim to believe that Jesus saved them are seem very afraid of death, and seem to view it as an evil, something to be avoided at all costs. You would think they would view joining God in Heaven as a good thing, but instead they fear it. Food for thought, I think the religion is deeply flawed, and very much full of shit, which really saddens me, as I believe in Jesus and his message has been so corrupted. If he could see what his "followers"  do in his name, he would puke himself inside out.  :nonono:

So a carnivore plant does  .

The point is, religious issues have turned into a political lobby. The state should remain neutral and atheist in such matters but it doesn't, US government is as fundamentalist as the Islamic Jihad ...

Anyway, this is an example of religious repression, the religious community holds the power to decide ones life. They do the same with abortion and drugs, who the hell do they think they are ?
Death will be the ultimate freedom for that woman, as the soul can not be ruled by men's decision.

nor could i.

check this out though.  what if i offered the idea that the lady is fully aware of what is going on, her soul is just fine, that is who we are, we are not our bodies.  her body is just fucked up :frown:

she can only do what she can with the body she is in.  she feels all the love to her, she knows.

it is my belief/feeling that her soul is here because we need more loving souls on this planet.  too many(fucking christians) people think that we are our bodies, and dont even fucking look to who we really are, that is a fucking shame, man that does make me want to puke.

 maybe...

but for real tho, man...doesnt anyone see she is not "dead", she clearly has a soul, and full of love. its her body(brain) thats fucked up, not HER.  if SHE wanted to die, then SHE would be gone.  I think she is not only bringing light here, but attempting to teach us something.  how much do we care? WHY do we care..all that matters is love.

the beef i got with christians is their misconstrued perception. they aint tryin to keep her alive out of love, their doing it out of "oh lookey what we're doing, father, we care."  and thats selfish, the should have nothing to prove, they gives no fucks about her, really, only thinking of themselves. that is what i see. but then who the fuck am i to judge? im just saying my piece is all. and like many of u, i think christians are conceited pieces of shit.

No, I do not see this.

The brain is the central location of consciousness and all things that make up one's personality and awareness. I think she is just a shell of a human at this point - just a body kept functioning due to tinkering.

She cannot "die" because she is kept alive artificially - at this point, she has not consciousness nor will, so how can her desires even exist?

thats where most of the ego problems lie, IMO. Its just a body.  the soul is the personality. the people that are "retarded", do you really think that those souls are just like that for eternity? in order to see WHO THEY TRULY ARE, you must look into their eyes, within them. that is them. same with what i see in this lady. her body is too fucked up to even tell people off, hahah.

what i do agree on though, is that she should be unhooked, and allowed to die, because although she is full of love, her soul is indeed suffering and she's had enough, but her fucking family is so selfish, if they would just stop being selfish she could go, no problem, machine or no machine. Shes holding on for love  there is no personal desire for her soul to live anymore.

she is really left with no choice cuz of that dumb machine not letting her body die, but why she is ULTIMATELY still here, is becuase of her family, they need to let go. once they let go, no machine would be able to stop her departure

if you all want to help this woman, then pray for her family to accept her death. that is the best you can do.
