geokills has banned the user Swami
From: geokills

User Swami has been banned.

Reason: You have exhibited complete disregard for formal policy by creating a puppet account (Gustavius) while your main account was locked. Further, you used this puppet to instigate and fuel dissention against your original ban, in very like fashion to the behavior which was the original cause for your initial ban. You may contact me, geokills (my username @ shroomery.org) to discuss this matter further if you so desire. If you continue to take measures to evade your ban, you will be permanently banned in the future. If you cross-post your dissent in multiple forums with respect to our decisions, you will be banned again. You are free to voice your opinions when confined to a single thread dedicated to the topic. You are not free to instigate disruption site-wide or in multiple forums. Do not make a public spectacle out of your own perceptions. I hope that upon your next return, you will be able to respect these common sense policies.

Lightningfractal.. Satisfy my curiosity, where did you get this?

EllemyshShade.. Us mods are just like humans
There indeed is some combative attitude going on, but it goes both ways and if you look at all those threads moderators are being attacked by a mob.

Our loyalty lies with the Shroomery. Not one person, but the community itself. I myself offered $$$ if the shroomery needed a hardware update but that was all taken care of, the Shroomery's finance is good, we can even put Shroomery Radio on the air!
If a person, a member, mob, mod OR admin poses a threat to the Shroomery it cuts me personally very deep.
If the admins in my view were detrimental to the community I'd be willing to get demodded or step down from moderatorship myself.
Call it corny but I consider the Shroomery to be a Cause.
It is not "just a website", at least not to me. It's a psychedelic community that saves lives and spreads joy.
But there are darker sides.

If somebody destabilizes the whole he or she in my view should be corrected for the greater good. If the detrimental behavior ceases, I'm at peace with that person even if characters clash.
But the destabilizing effect of the SWAMA we see lately is very obvious.

I've been harsh in my wordings and I'll try to tone that down from now on. I never wanted to suggest that everybody following this thread has little care for the Tsunami tragedy. Some likely do. This single Swami thread has had double the views then the Tsunami thread had and that pissed me off as a human being.
I slipped it in like I plug the Tsunami action throughout my posting. I have no doubt several people care very much and others care far less about the Asia/Africa tragedy.

"Thinking for yourself" I intended to do away with the mob mentality of Us vs Them. Perhaps I pushed too hard. If it cane across like that again I sincerely apologize to all who feel that way.

Nontheless I posted the evidence and case as I see it some posts back and nobody has yet effectively disproven that.
Most say Swami bears no malice, yet none succesfully disproved my points nor dealt with it properly.
There has been a roar for Answers! Answers! Answers!
Well I gave those answers but nobody delves into that.
Is all this anger just a game?

Hey Wiccan, it's all good.  :sun:  Thanks for reading my post and listening to my concerns.  It's just an edgy situation for everyone involved in here.  You've always contributed a great deal to the Cause (I agree with you entirely on that!) that is the Shroomery and it has not gone unnoticed by us members.

Here's a tribute to Swami's puppet GUSTAVUS.
Gustavus won't be coming here anymore, he's banned for his entire puppet life. Perhaps the master follows him into oblivion. So here's a tribute to the REAL Swami way of going about things:

-------------------------------------------

SWAMI?s puppet GUSTAVIUS.

*** Is this the Swami we all know or is this a design to be liked, generate postcount and then suck up to himself? Starting off by saying how friendly the site is and ?seeing the light? that the mods are uncool as Swami kisses up to Swami?
Please note the newfound fondness of the antiscientific, his un-Swami spelling errors and the subtle succession (suck-session?) of posts as he unfolds his master plan. ***

Don't step out Ellemy. You posted exactly the things I was feeling and wanted to say but couldn't find the words for. You are SOOO on hitting the nail on the head when you say this isn't about the ban anymore. Hell, I'm all bent out of shape and I don't even know who this swami character is. I've Never read one friggin post of his. What I have read is the responses from Shirley Knott, Cervantes, and the self-proclaimed author Wiccan Seeker, and I must say that their comments have been very unsettling.

I haven't been around this place all that long and have been a registered poster for an even shorter time. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any of the aforementioned moderators so this is kind of my first impressions of them.

Shirley, you seem as cold an uncaring of the shroomery as I could possibly imagine. Passing it off as 'just an internet site'. I beg you to keep in mind that the people behind the scenes are real human beings. The fact that we communicate through a digital medium doesn't lessen the fact that we are real. It's no different than if we were all around a campfire somewheres. It's all the same communication.

Cervantes, my only impression of you is that you are sticking up for a fellow mod (shirley knott) because you feel she is being attacked and you would go to the ends of the earth and back to protect her right or wrong.

Wiccan Seeker,... you have quite an imagination, I'll say that much. An author, eh? You must write fiction novels because you have come up with some of the most half-brained shit I have ever had the privilege to read. It seems hypocrisy knows no bounds with you. You repeatedly refer to the people who follow this incident as misguided, simple minded, sheep who are being 'led around by the nose' by that evil Shepherd whose only goal is to use them as pawns in his most clever scheme to overthrow the shroomery. You come off as pompous and arrogant. It seems old Mr. Webster has never introduced the word humility into your repertoire of witty banter.

Now, I'm sure my opinions of you do not reflect your true personalities. I'm sure that the circumstances of the past 24 hours have brought out the worst in everyone involved, including myself, as I have never until this day posted so negatively toward another individual or group of individuals. It's just that in my eyes, from what I've seen here, it appears that the moderators need some moderation. Oddly enough this whole thing would doubtfully be dragged on as much as it has if the mods had used a little moderation in their posting. The rest of the community and by saying that I mean those opposed to you, would have likely stopped by now if you had refrained from replying (so harshly I might add) to every single expression of disapproval posted by them.

It seems to me that you don't want this matter resolved (see wiccan's previous post for proof of this). It seems to me that you don't want others to look up to you. It seems to me that you don't want to be in a leadership position. Well, you are looked up to, you are a leader, and you need to act like one. Follow Geokill's example because he has it down to an art form.

Now if I've pissed you all off in some way or if being critical towards a moderator is against the TOS then so help me god, I wish you to ban me permanently. Swell up with anger, feel your ego rise up in your throat giving you that bad taste in your mouth, and hit me with the ban stick. I could really care less at this point. Last week I would have pleaded for mercy as I truly thought The Shroomery was the place for me but now my doubts about the stability and leadership of this place have risen so high as to cause such discontent on my part that I almost wish you'd do me the favor.

Sounds more and more like his Randal P. McMurphy avatar is accurate. not to be overly dramatic, but it's the only way to get a point across in this drama fest.
The simple fact of the matter is, the first, and second bans were absolute Bullshit. The length of time was overly hostile, and aggressive. There was a clear abuse of power involved. The people in power really had it out for Swami and he got shafted.
So he may be manipulative, and he may be a bit of an asshole. So what? He made more high quality posts than ANYBODY in S&P, and i think they're some jealousy on the part of some of the mods.
but the reason that the mods feel they are being "ganged up on" is that, the public see's that an injustice has been done to one of its own, and we don't want to be next.

And, i know were all just human, and you mods, and admins are doing a job that your not even getting paid for, but you fucked up, or your brethren fucked up, and nobody has apologized for it yet. An apology, and a pardon of Swami, would be appropriate in this situation.
After all, was his silly little puppet really hurting anyone?

I don't even like banning people, and as a result, I never have.  I think his initial threads when coming back should have been locked or moved to WAF.

and again, swami isn't innocent either.  i expressed my concern for his initial banning, I thought it was only 24 hours, but then it was 15 days.

its the faults of both sides, and you're right no one will admit to being manipulative, just like no one will admit that they are/were being hasty.

when you talk about the intent of a person in teaching an learning, especially on the internet, being an asshole and being manipulative does have its advantages, but it deals with a respect issue.

i have posted this now three times and no on still will answer me  :frown:

what or who wasthis thread in refernece to?  and it is in refernce to someone

telling someone they aren't worth debating with is a lack of respect, even if you are 200% correct...still disrespect.  he has harped on many people no to attack the poster but attack the view, but then he goes around and does the opposite (as in telling someone they aren't worth debating).  he could have ignored the person and not said a thing (as he often does when there are great points thrown his way).

I understand you concern and quite frankly, I am apalled at some of the comments on here from both sides.  what has this digressed to?

"The people in power really had it out for Swami and he got shafted."

here's what I don't understand...how is being a mod having power?  its just the internet..its not really power, it's a priviledge.

swami did blow it with his puppet and so this next ban I back up 100%.

LF way back got banned and not many said a thing about it, but reading his posts now, they are clearer, more respectful, and dare I say funnier.  maybe swami should take a look.

Re: The Underlying Message [Re: Swami]
    #3554993 -

Here's the underlying message...

Swami's post style has irked every single mod S&P has ever had. Why? Because every single S&P mod has been of the esoteric persuasion. This wouldn't be a problem, but for the fact that they (like most of the esoteric persuasion - minus the few posters such as Markosthegnostic) ALSO can't handle it when someone scrutinizes their beliefs (even if someone means well).

I believe it was Shroomism (a mod) who first drew the skeptic/believer line in the sand... and that line has stood ever since (though I'd like to note that Shroomism has definitely matured as a mod). The scales tend to tip to the "believer" side and most threads end with a "believer" sidestepping a "skeptic" or a "skeptic" hitting a little too close to home with their questions and a mod steps in and hands out a veiled warning in favor of the "believer".

This latest brouhaha is merely another peak on this ongoing dynamic. Other notable peaks would include several during Mr_Mushrooms' reign as a mod. My favorite was when Mr_Mushrooms (a mod) poked fun at my father's then recent abrupt death (yes, MM was eventually dealt with - a high point for the administration... thank you, again).

Back to the present...

As to Swami's second ban - I think it was according to the book... and he knew it. Though I don't like that he was banned so quickly again, the rule on puppets is very clear and I have to support it.

HOWEVER, there STILL is no real evidence for the initial ban. And the reasons for the second ban (what geokills posted), while valid, have absolutely nothing to do with the first ban. I've tried to stay out of the firefight, hoping that the reasons for the first ban will be revealed in full, but they have yet to surface. Maybe I'm not being patient enough and I posted too soon.

Note: I'm not here to argue with you mods (that's a lose/lose situation)... I just want to know the official reason for Swami's initial ban.

Obviously there's "a" person that thread can refer to. It does not contain any names, however -- and when I read it, I identified a particular person who had been talking about such a thing recently, but also realize that MANY people in this world fit into both catagories. The thread was created to demonstrate and debate, basically, trust.

Or you could view it as a personal attack. I did not, as the purpose of the thread was not to cause anyone to feel bad -- though it could be INTERPRETED as such -- but rather the purpose of the thread was to start a conversation on a topic.

Well, screw it. I'll just link to my post in that topic -- it's a bit longer but explains a bit more clearly what I viewed to be the purpose of that topic.Click

Here's another point.. I never really viewed the mods as having much power.
Just sort of quietly reminding people to calm down occasionally. That had been my experiences with them.

Now, along comes this debacle.
Many of the mods themselves put the idea that they weild some sort of magical sword into our mouths and minds for us.
"Shh Child, We Know what is going on. Trust us."
They're really helped to foster the whole Us vs. Them mentality that's going on. They know what's best for the site. We don't. They know the reasons for the ban and how clear the issue is. We either don't know the real reasons or do not see any problems with the reasons we have been given.. They're right. We're wrong. Us, them. Clusterfuck.

I don't exactly know who this post is for... but I will explain things the best I can.

First, there's been a LOT of talk about the community wanting an apology from the mods and admins... How quickly we forget... there were SEVERAL apologies issued for the first Swam ban. Geo's especially, was heart fealt. Geo is the guy who extended SWAMI'S ban. I suggest you search for it.

While you are at it... count how many OTHER mods gave apologies in THAT thread. How many mods admitted mistakes.

THEN count how many community members who saw those apologies... and are still dwmanding MORE.

Then came Swam ban 2. Swami came back, posted all over the forums... and WOULD NOT LISTEN TO REPEATED PUBLIC WARNINGS. Count how many people seemed to miss this event. Count how many people who refused to listen to the reasons offered... for his ban.

Then came the Third installment. Swam ban 3: The puppeteer.

Now take notice of something. The moderators participating in THIS thread HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH SWAMI'S INITIAL BAN. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH S & P. Most of us SHARE the SAME concerns as the people who are opposing the Swam bans (believe it or not.... we do IN PRIVATE). Why the hell are we sticking up for ALL THREE Swam bans publicly then?

(to be continued... I am typing on my Palm and I can't make large posts... or spell check... sorry. Please be patient and wait for the rest of my post before you guys innevitably, ignore what I say... and start bitching at me again... I've participated in the Swama enough to know you will weather I'm honest, give you what you want, if I'm full of shit, or just kidding... the mob response will be the same... please... just let me finish.)

more soon,
cerv

THEN came Swam ban 3

OK where was I?

Oh yes, the Mods that have NO RIGHT TO BE TALKING ABOUT SWAMA ARE THE ONES TALKING ABOUT SWAMA... WHY?

(I am being honest... uncomfortably honest here... I may get my tit in a ringer honest... please believe me.)

Shirley, Wiccan and I, as well as Geo (the only admin on duty) EXPECTED A HUGE RESPONSE OVER THE SWAM BANS. We are working hard to let the Swami Fan Club YELL TILL THEY ARE BLUE IN THE FACE. I gotta say, taking a bullet for the team (That is what we are doing) isn't fun and it takes a lot of time. We know what we are doing here... but it seems many members of the SFC are too thick skulled to realize this FACT.

We are trying to keep this OUT OF S & P... What better way to do this... than to handle the situation w/o much S&P Moderator input. This may help explain why there has been SUCH A LACK OF DETAIL SURROUNDING SWAMI'S FIRST BAN. The mods that are privy to such detail are WISELY staying out of the Swama. If the SFC REACTS THIS WAY TO US... I'd MUCH rather we take the heat... than the S&P forum itself! There is nothing holier than thou about our actions here... We mods have ALL said things we regret in this thread. But again... BETTER THE SFC IS MAD AT US THAN THE S&P FORUM. Perhaps you see why we all are GIVING THE SFC AMPLE OPPERTUNITY to cry, bitch, and sometimes pertnear FLAME us.

Oh now hell fire has been unleashed in an attempt to assassinate my personality or at least credibility in ways described in Trendals "How Not To Talk" thread in S&P, but in no way have my arguments been dealt with.

Reged two months ago ei? You sure got a big mouth on you.
