Re: Thoughts on His banishment [Re: Asante]
    #3556377 -

Damn. I was typing part 3 of my post in an airplane, the plane took off, and lost the signal b4 it posted... lost the WHOLE thing.

I'll try again... now that I am home and on MY PC again. YAY.

In summary... the Swami Fan Club (SFC) is picking on Mods who feel (or at least felt initially) much the same as the SFC, yet we Mods are here, publicly supporting Swami's ban anyway, to protect our fellow Mods from being treated they way WE are being treated in THIS thread.

Look, one or two people were responsible for Swami's FIRST ban... and now, Swami and his Fan Club are calling for ALL THE MODS and ADMINS heads on a stake. Only a FEW of us are willing to talk about it... and we Mods are in here, so you all CAN talk/bitch/cry about it. If we didn't, you'd take this shit into S&P. Obviously, Swami is not concerned with this community (his puppet actions PROVE that to ANYONE without a tin-foil hat...) We Mods will remain in this thread so you can YELL AT US, until you finally, get over it... and the Swama, once again, dies down. Until Swami's innevitable NEXT post.

I'd love to give more detail... and honestly, I've already given MORE detail than the Admins would like me to. Problem is, this is a BIG issue, and the admins want to keep it under control... even bigger problem, all but ONE admin is out of town right now (so they CAN'T controll it like they want to)... biggest problem yet... the Admins don't want us to give ANY public details because... everything we present in here is being MOBBED and shot down by people who just want to BARK no matter what is said. I can certainly see the logic in the Administration's wishes.

Yet... just this once, I am going to ignore the Administration... and post a bunch of detail. You all have EARNED it.

I didn't initially agree with Swami's 2 week ban. I argued against 24 hours (and accurately predicted the PUBLIC REACTION Swami's ban would reciave), in the Mod forum, because I didn't see enough evidence. I had a TIRADE over the 2 week extension. But in public, I have supported the ban. Mods should speak with ONE voice in public... notice how I use the plural, "Mods" even when I am talking about ONE mod? It keeps things sterile, and unified. Since the First Swam-Ban, I HAVE seen enough evidence (but you guys haven't... well, tough titties)... this isn't counting Swami's most recent bans for Puppetry. He'd done PLENTY before then.

I can bet... even if you saw all the evidence, there is a good chance you'd be unimpressed. A lot of Swami's banning had to do with HOW MUCH WORK Swami has caused the S&P mods over the years, and how Swami repeatedly said he'd do better... before falling back into his OLD HABITS.... a few weeks after he'd promised to change. Notice, Swami never told the Staff to "Shove it" but his repeated actions were loud and clear.

Swami, Swami-trolled the Mods one too many times and they FINALLY took the bait. They aren't proud. But they were victimized by him one too many times. Nothing Swami did is as bad as his puppet trick (BUT THAT PUPPET TRICK WAS A VERY PUBLIC, CONDENSED VERSION OF WHAT HE DID FOR YEARS IN S&P)... but if you could add all Swami's offenses up... over the years... you'd have to admit the Mods who have had to deal with him had CERTAINLY earned a 2 week break from his BULLSHIT attitude. Swami's never had THIS COMMUNITY'S best interests in mind. Not then, and ESPECIALLY, not during his 2 week ban.

W/O specifics (tough titties), that is EXACTLY what happened. Do I think the mods did the right thing? After MUCH internal debate, Yes. Why? Because, now that I'm a mod... I can appreciate how dealing with someone like Swami can get old... REAL old.... REAL fast. Especially when Swami is smart enough to play by the rules, and still, Swami manages to Offend 1 new person a month (not an actual figure, I just pulled it out of my ass). Would I have banned Swami in their shoes? Probably not.

I like to ban people for ONE CULMINATING, UNCONTESTABLE event. Swami didn't get that treatment with his FIRST ban... and that caused several smart people in the community to demand a REASON for his ban. But what you didn't see were the years of warnings, and the YEARS of ban requests, or the SEVERAL rules The Shroomery has had to make over the years... just because of Swami... but then, the person who requested Swami be banned, has moderated Swami in S&P for 6X longer than I have been a Shroomery mod. And, I never have had to deal with REAL Swama until AFTER Swami's 1st ban... so I am VERY new to this. 3 years of THIS bullshit would certainly cause my head to explode.

I respect the people who banned Swami... although I don't agree with HOW they did it. They are GOOD smart people, who have volunteered a shitload more time here than I have. I gotta' trust that they knew what they were doing. Ultimately, after Swam Ban 3: The Puppeteer, I KNOW they were right to ban him in the first place. Swami DIDN'T CARE ABOUT THIS COMMUNITY. Just look at this mess! Swami helped create it... then once this mess had started, Swami, as a puppet, fuled the fire.

After seeing how Swami spent his BAN TIME... I REALLY see what type of guy the S&P mods have been dealing with for YEARS. That PUPPET thing has been a headache for ALL THE MODS AND ADMINS... not just the people that banned him. THAT WAS UNFAIR TO ALL OF US. On top of THAT, Swami's got a good portion of YOU upset at THE ENTIRE SHROOMERY STAFF. Kudos Swam. Thanks a bunch. Instead of calling you an asshole, I'll do what you do and just suggest it.

I'm dealing with this issue in public, so the Mods that ARE REALLY PISSED AT SWAM don't have to... and frankly, it HURTS to have soo many Shroomerites UPSET AT THE ENTIRE STAFF for one or two people's actions. And I've had it EASY. Look at how Shirl and Wiccan have been treated. They've had it hard. They are just trying to contain the Swama too. That's what Mods do... weather we like it or not. It is our job. We either shit, or we must get off the pot. I like pot.

Please, just trust me. That is what happened. If you want detail, I'm afraid you'd need to talk with an ADMIN or someone who actually had to deal with Swami over the years. I'm just participating in the Swama... letting the public yell at me, so they get it off their chests, so the community can get back to normal. It seems to be the QUICKEST way to get past this... and the BEST way to keep THIS ENERGY out of S&P.

One last thing, REMEMBER SFC, this really doesn't concern ANYBODY other than SWAMI. NOBODY else is at risk of being banned like SWAMI was. He is a VERY special case. Never in my time here have I seen a request for such a ban... I doubt I will see any more. So stop worrying, stop demanding MORE detail. Stop asking for Mods to step down. And START acting like Shroomerites again. The quicker, the better.

Trust the Staff on this one. SWAMI needs to GET THE POINT. The SFC is NOT HELPING... they aren't helping anyone (but their own curiosity). They are certainly NOT helping the COMMUNITY. So far, 5 years of reasoning with Swami hasn't worked, and banning him REALLY didn't work. The S&P mods changed the rules of the forum to make it easier to ban people for Swami-Trolling in the future, they also made the S&P rules MUCH clearer than they were before. People are no longer allowed to act the way Swami has in S&P.

Sure, Swam may have been banned for a rule that DIDN'T yet exist, but it is OBVIOUS Swami does not have this community's best interests at heart. You may disagree... I did at first. But LOOK at who Swami has been able to get his Fan Club to yell at! The ENTIRE SHROOMERY STAFF... for just a couple of people's actions.

That's all for now. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask... but in return, may I ask you to give us Staffers a LITTLE public respect? Yeah, one or two of us may have fucked up a bit at first... but in the end, they were RIGHT... YET, WE ALL ARE FEELING THE CONSEQUENCES... THE WHOLE COMMUNITY, ESPECIALLY THE MODS AND ADMINS... even though we NOW KNOW for certain Swami was up to no good. Name ONE thing Swami has done since his first ban that was GOOD for this community. I sure as hell can't. I didn't know Swami before then, but I imagine he has been as self serving over the past year... or 5... as well.

Hell, had Swami not made his list of DEMANDS during his FIRST, 2 week BAN, His BAN WOULD HAVE BEEN LIFTED EARLY. THAT IS A FACT. His list of demands pissed the Admins off soooo much, they let the ban stick. I didn't make the decision, but I was privy to it.

There, that is 99.7% of what I KNOW about the issue. WAY MORE than the Admins want me to tell you all. I may get my ass spanked for this post... but I think the SFC deserves some DETAIL, even though you were PWN3D by Swami's, "Swami-mind-tricks".

I respect the hell out of MOST of you and your concerns ARE valid. But really, TRUST US. We DO have the community in mind when we make decisions, unlike Swami... some of you really do need to look at your actions in THIS and OTHER threads... and pull your heads out of your proverbial asses.

Before I was a mod, I was the first to complain if I thought someone was unfairly banned. Now that I am a Mod, I still am... but I complain in a Forum you all can't read (AND I NEVER MAKE IT PERSONAL). The Mod Forum is a closed forum for GOOD reason. Mods have to stand together in public. You may not believe me, but it is true. There is NOTHING worse for a community, then seeing the Staff in publuc, unsure of what they have done... and unsure of what they will do next. Also, Staff bickering is best left in private.

Mods have rules, rules YOU CAN'T READ. Rules I, and some others may have broken in THIS THREAD... but THIS IS A SPECIAL case. Just like Swami was a special case. Swami's special. SwamA's special. Are you begining to see the picture just yet?

I really hope you Swam-Fans understand what I am trying to say...

Sure... I expect, some of you will continue to yell at me and the rest of the Staff NO MATTER WHAT. Christ, there's nobody more anti-authority than a community of hippies. But really, don't yell at us, call us names, flame us, DEMAND our Modships revoked... then EXPECT US TO ACT LIKE MODEL CITIZENS. We aren't fucking robots. It is about time some of you treated the Staff like HUMANS.... humans with the community's best interests at heart.

Now you know... the rest... of the story,
Cervantes

I don't think I've posted in S&P but for two threads since Swami got the axe. Too many thin-skinned people who I'm afraid would take a dispute I have with their beliefs as a personal attack and go cry to some mod, stroke their cock and get me booted off.

Ditto.  :mad2:

Wiccan Seeker,... you have quite an imagination, I'll say that much. An author, eh? You must write fiction novels because you have come up with some of the most half-brained shit I have ever had the privilege to read. It seems hypocrisy knows no bounds with you. You repeatedly refer to the people who follow this incident as misguided, simple minded, sheep who are being 'led around by the nose' by that evil Shepherd whose only goal is to use them as pawns in his most clever scheme to overthrow the shroomery. You come off as pompous and arrogant. It seems old Mr. Webster has never introduced the word humility into your repertoire of witty banter.

Why 13eetleJuice.. You come off so tipped off you almost seem personally hurt. Looks like flaming to me. And you're verbally attacking people to the degree of their arguing in favor of the Swami ban.

Still.. nobody has dealt with my posts effectively.
Oh now hell fire has been unleashed in an attempt to assassinate my personality or at least credibility in ways described in Trendals "How Not To Talk" thread in S&P, but in no way have my arguments been dealt with.

Reged two months ago ei? You sure got a big mouth on you.

You holier-than-thou gig is disgusting. First you come in here and tell people they don't give two shits about whats happening overseas, then you somehow deduct that just because these people are arguing with you, they are automatically being led around blindly by Swami.

The first thing I stated is what really bothers me. Where the fuck do you get off telling people what they do and don't care about? I'm sure almost everyone here is upset about the disaster overseas, but does that mean he have to sulk and grieve during our entire waking day? Just because something more important happened doesn't mean that other things just stop ceasing to exist. They may get put on the back burner, but they're still there. What you said was disgusting and insensitive, and honestly, you were out of line.

Get off you high horse, you're no better then us, buddy.

This pompus, arrogant absurdity shows me clearly that Swami isn't one of the people around here in need of a lesson! :mad2:

I've rarely been so dusgusted by a group of people as I have been lately by the moderator and admin staff here. You guys have lost all my respect.

Swami has been manipulating people, and it doesn't feel good that y'all stood in that line, asses lubed up to be puppeteered.

It's very presumptuous of you to suggest that the people who've expressed opposition to this injustice are being manipulated. I assure you, I can think for myself, and I'm sure I'm not alone here in that respect. :syringe:

Correction:

Ostensibly banned for puppeteering, however, given that Gustavius was known to be Swami by everyone involved more than two weeks ago, and given that he was just banned now because shirley knott got a bug up his ass tells me that this second banning had little to do with puppets and lots to do with a mod demonstrating a blatant disregard for the position of trust he has been given.

no, my ban (#2), if you can even call it a ban, was 8 hours. i may well have been a bit overzealous, true, but i did warn him twice by pm first. he is currently on ban #3 from admin for the puppet.

you can call it convenient if you like. it's certainly convenient for many people that he's not here now. don't you understand that sometimes a person is just more negative than positive?

sorry diploid. for what it's worth, i haven't lost my respect for you, and i appreciate that if the roles were reversed, i may very well be saying the exact same things you are - the only difference is perspective. can i take it you believe in free speech, and that this is an unencroachable right? here's something you can do to voice your feelings - click the link in my sig and you get to choose a head to roll!
