respect for fallen shroomies, a new forum plz

i have had this on my mind a lot today, after the breif life of dr. bella, who we should be grateful he made us a part of it, and watching a guy i have known all my life (my age), slowly dieing of cancer, has made me realize how quickly life can be ended.
we need an "in memory of" forum. not for peeps to place a post when their third cousin once removed has died, but for when a registered shroomy has went on to cultivate in a much better place. we could open it each post with the avatar they were using when they passed on, any knowledge of their life and death, and maybe a link to their "show all user post"
hopefully this would be a small forum

That's a really good idea. Maybe it could just be a list, or something, in memory of the shroomerite, and composed of things posted about him by other members when the news first broke. We should probably keep the cause of death omitted, however, so any drug related deaths don't end up being used as anti-drug propaganda...

I think that's a very good idea. All too often one can pour out there soul during such an emotionaly charged event in a message forum/chatroom only too find there posts are totaly buried/ignored by others that cant relate to such sorrow at that paticular time.

With a small forum like this others going thru simular hardship could more easly locate other Shroomrites that were going thru the same stuff as well.

I like this idea.

I completely disagree...

I think the cause of death should purposefully be mentioned so that people who visit this site will realize that drug-related deaths CAN and DO occur... I'm sure most of us are already aware of this tragic fact, but there are some very young users coming to this site; and I think seeing something like this could really open their eyes to the dangers of some drugs and maybe even prevent some deaths. I'm sure that if I were dying of a drug overdose, the thing I would most want to say before I died would be "Don't make the same mistake I did!"

This is a good idea and not at the same time. I like it because it's nice to have a little memorial for our fallen soldiers, they deserve it....but at the same time... Um, fallen shroomerites happens once in a blue moon.

Maybe we could archive the RIP threads? There are 2 that I know of, that doesn't necessitate an entire forum.

yes, good point rebelsteve, and i think drug related deaths will be very small actually, probably more car accidents than anything. just cuz this is a drug site, dont mean we have peeps ODing everyday
i know it would be a small forum, hopefully VERY small, it wont take up much room, but i feel a connections with others here, and i think a way to honor them is approperiate.

That is a great point, RebelSteve! I should stop being so paranoid...

Also, the fact we have so few fallen shroomerites, is a good thing, Maybe the forum would only operate for a week or so after a death, and threads could be linked to a permanent memorial list...

Perhaps the forum can be made, but no new threads can be made without being pre-read by one of the admins first. Mabye that way, the forum will say clear of shit. It should be small, and respectful. The Shroomery graveyard.. If you will.
Not JUST Shroomerites though. If you know a close friend who has died, write up a memorial, and send it to an admin for scanning.

I think it would be better to make a subsite, which would contain info about each fallen shroomerite, and would have a place where people could say something in memory.

Good idea, ChromeCrow. I think that rather than it being a forum, it should be its own section as the poster above me suggested. That way people could contribute in a way that would only be respectful to the memories of those who are spreading their spores in a much larger venue.
