I really only watched things from a distance, but I don't think that reforms were a bad idea. I just assume have no OTD, it is a bit of a joke. Not to say I don't add to it, but that's beside the point.

everyone is making a big deal over nothing...what 3dshroom did was best for the COMMUNITY...maybe not the cult section or the hunting section, but best for this place as a whole. this site can't make money without traffic and otd brings traffic. plus the poll reflected that most people wanted either a hidden otd with no change or a public otd with no change (that was b4 the fraud). this whole change otd thing was championed by mods who dont get along with people that hang there... i personally was going to welcome a change to stop some of the extremely pointles threads...anyway ODD is a much bigger threat to this site as a whole than OTD is...so you mods who need something to cry about in ur super-secret forum, there is a new crusade for ya.

I want to make a few comments now that this whole OTD thing is coming to an end.

First, OTD is NOT the same as it was, THERE IS A WARNING IN BIG RED LETTERS before you click on this forum. I think this is great. This warns the lambs and the n00bs to stay out if they want a more positive Shroomery experience. It certainly prepares people better for the crazyness inside OTD.

This warning does everything the hidden forum did but, protect from puppets (sorry mods)... and nobody gets left out. So democracy or not, OTD with a disclaimer is almost as good as a hidden forum. Probably better for the general public. A little more difficult for the mods.

Also no matter what some people say, Geo and Papa's work hasn't been for naught, although, they sound a bit put out by being swept aside by 3D (Now they know how it feels to be swept aside in The Shroomery... not very fun). I don't blame them for feeling a little hurt... I would.

However, The Shroomery is a more positive and tightly knit community than it was... the events in the OTD have given some newer Shroomerites (like me) a voice. Sadly, the events have taken away the voices of some longstanding members of this community.

Now that the Administration's humanity has been put on public display, we should forgive them and move on. Just like the Administration should forgive GW and PK (and others) for their behavior during these events (although, I'm sure I don't know the whole story).

Now that it is over, I think it is time to reflect. The people who took the most drastic actions, are the people who care the most about the community. Geokills, Psilokitten, Papaver, 3D_SHROOM, Georgewash and HB... I am sure there are countless others who were effected by this experiment... people who wanted a voice in the vote and didn't get one.

As a n00b Shroomerite, let me make a suggestion, Administrators, let it go... your experiment was a success not a failure. You, me and others learned why OTD is so important to this community.

Thanks for your efforts, we all want what is best for The Shroomery.

As for PsiloKitten, all I have heard are rumors, but even if she did, it was out of concern for the community.

I don't know many of those folks I named above very well, it helped me look at their actions without taking things personally. Most of them can't say the same thing.

I'm just calling 'em as I see 'em... admitting I don't see the whole picture along the way.

Fooling with a poll is serious but, the WHOLE OTD thing was handled POORLY. OTD was taken down poorly. People reacted poorly. Administration reacted poorly. Mods reacted poorly. Sponsors reacted poorly. The OTD was brought back poorly.

Why?

Simple.

POOR COMMUNICATION. The only thing that has come to light from this whole thing is this: THE ADMINISTRATION COMMUNICATED POORLY. Had they communicated to one another and the community better, this whole thing could have been handled WELL.

What I was saying, Mr Mushrooms, is the Administration should be forgiven. They said all along it was an EXPERIMENT. The members of this community should be forgiven too. WE WERE GUINEA PIGS AFTER ALL. The experiment CAN STILL WORK if all is forgiven.

Think of the example the Administration could send to the community by forgiving those people who actually CARE about The Shroomery. BANNING PEOPLE OVER OTD sends a POOR message. Especially when OTD appears to have been brought back, in part, to piss PsiloKitten and other newly banned members off.

For God's sake, this site is at its heart a protest site, protesting government misinformation concerning psychadelic mushrooms. And it is punishing people for PROTESTING.

Whoever fiddled with the poll CARED about the community... and they were making a point... how could it be a fair poll, if people were kicked out before the vote?

Things were poorly handled all around. It is better to lick our wounds and heal as a comunity than to hold grudges.

I think we'd all prefer that.

Wasn't this whole OTD thing done to enforce POSITIVITY?

The administration should make a UNIFIED, POSITIVE gesture.

Forgiveness would heal wounds quickly.

Am I crazy?

Again, I didn't know her well, but I bet if I looked at her pre OTD fiasco threads, PsiloKitten would come across as a smart, passionate person who would stand up for what she thinks is right.

Not to different from you Mr. Mushrooms... or me... or the current administration.

First of all, she threatened to have the server hacked, so I told her if something did happen to the server, she would be the prime suspect. Whether you realize it or not, tampering with someone else's server is illegal.

Take a look at http://www.shroomery.org/forums/newuser.php and you will see this: "Any attempt to adversely affect the server in any way will result in us taking immediate action against you."

This means we will take any measures possible to track down and prosecute anyone who tries to harm our servers.

It's pretty obvious you are friends with them since you know all this stuff.. maybe you should reconsider who you trust.

I still stand by my point about forgiveness.

We should forgive the administrators for the experiment and the administrators should forgive us, the gunea pigs.

Sorry I haven't replied..as I hardly come here anymore.

OTD used to be a great forum. With great people.

I bitched about it before, but know I realize that you can either live with it, or leave it as I did.

The only solution to bringing it back to the way it used to be is to restrict access...as in make it for preferred members only. Thus getting rid of the sea of morons that constantly post garbage.

But this doesn't seem very realistic. This stuff just happens when a board like this becomes popular and overflows with members

That's my 2 cents.

I did not vote on this simply because I missed the window to do so.

However with like many situations, and I learned this many many many years ago, back in the 2400 baud BBS days, to not take online communities too seriously. IN that I mean, do not let it get to you to the point where you get emotional.

SHit, I really can understand how frustrated Papaver is right now. Just at the point where you need to say fuckit.

wait what?? im so drunk right now... what the heck is happening. som sort of poll on OTD?? what? i think it should come back. there doesnt need to be rules because its off topic. but of course, i dont wanna see anything nasty and/or fucked up like when lizard king edited his post about liberty cap finds and changed them all to the picture from goatse.cx (by the way, dont go to that website unless your a gross motherfucker) but what?? whats going on here?
