No, it's more like some people at a party having a rude conversation over in a corner by themselves, and then other people walking in on them and freaking out because their weak minds can't handle it, and running up to one of the guys who live there and cry about it.


OTD is more of a back yard than a room really.

If you don't like the outside party, then stay in the house, or in the front yard.

but you are correct that the administration has the right to make and enforce whatever rules they want.

Or you're having a party and everyone is having fun, then you look in your garage and see that some of the partygoers are in there covered in shit and rubbing it all over each other.

You're tempted to just shut the door walk away, but then other party-goers notice what is going on and some of them leave.

So you ask the shitty people to leave and they threaten to rub shit on your walls, so you reluctantly allow them to stay because they have held you hostage.

So you continue to throw parties and warn everyone not to go in there unless they wanna play in shit.

And this bizzare situation continues in a delicate balance.

That's about what the situation is here.

My analogy was quiet accurate as originally stated. It amazes me that this thread went from someone questioning the moderators rights to close threads to bickering back and forth over whether or not OTD should be removed, it then graduated directly to 'if you don't like it get the fuck out'. Everything I wrote was in response to the original posters question.

Every human being has a combative side to their nature, and that side needs a proper outlet, OTD provides such. I personally feel it should remain, but there is a difference between letting off steam when needed, and just hate mongering.

If you don't like somebody, then don't hang out with them.

Personally, I would be fine with removing the link to OTD entirely, maybe make a second front page that does have the OTD link and OTD'ers can use that as their main page.

Perhaps a more concise set of guidelines for the forums in the gray areas, such as The Pub, and OTD is in order, and the administrations vehement and ruthless enforcement of those guidelines.

I'm more partial to the theory that there was a huge conspiracy in OTD to trick you into revealing just how dumb you really are.  :smirk:

lots of people do like otd, it's really not that bad, live and let live right, isn't that the kind of stuff you belive in LF?



making a seprate page would not work out because some otders (I hope most) go to other forums besides otd. it would be a pain to go back and forth from the main shroomery page just because you flame everyone in otd and get (suprise, suprise) flamed back.

that kind of hatred isn't useually there in such a way, you just insite a flame war by flameing everyone in otd, of course people are going to hate you if all you do is flame them.

No, the second page seperate from the main page would be just like the current main page.

The new real main page would be just like the current one, except no mention of OTD.

I don't think the board software would let you do that tho.

oh ok I see, but why go through all that troubble? we're all adults here (or should be), if you are offended by something in otd, don't go to otd. otd isn't even all THAT bad, some post are a little offensive perhaps, but really it isn't like the sixth circle of hell or anything.
