You are basically talking morality here. Not natural, inalienable rights - but desires and hopes. I am basically trying (without much success) to make the point that any rights we get are a product of the group we live in. If I lived in a group where my hopes and desires were violated or denied I would obvioulsy be pissed off but I still wouldnt think any form of objective rights were being violated, just my subjective idea on whats wrong and right.

Mmm. Morality can be intersubjective, but never objective.

Yeah I think morality is collective-subjective i.e a group of people sharing the same reality tunnel.

members of congress. i don't know who off the top of my head. the vote record should be available somewhere.

congress did not decide to go to war in iraq. making a decision requires thought. thought requires consciousness. congress has no consciousness. only the individual members do, and only they make decisions. then they vote, and then this is made policy based on a legal procedure. "congress" cannot think, and therefore cannot decide.

So the decision was made by a collection of individuals i.e a group. So the group made the decision, not one individual. Therefore groups do make decisions.

so the decision was made by a collection of individuals i.e a group.

nope. individual members within the group each made a decision. there were 535 individual decisions made. these individual decisions were translated into a group consensus via a legal mechanism.

do you see that the act of making a decision requires the use of thought? that for something to make a decision it must be capable of thinking? congress (or any other group) is not a single entity. it doesn't have a brain. it cannot make a decision, but only translate the individual decision of each member into a group consensus.

Sounds like Sophistry to me.

This is why groups are so call because they are the sum of many brains.
