Mint is dividing.

So like, grow a gallon pot of it.
Take the plant out of the pot, cut 75% of the roots off, And 75% of the plant matter off.

Now you have kindof a cookie, yes? Half plant half roots. Cut that into like ten bits and plant those in 3.5"
Pots.

Now you have ten mints.  In like 8wks theyll be finished and you can transplant those into gallons.  Rinse and repeat...

Now you have 100 mints... then 1000.  Congratulations, youre in the nursery business. Do this with like 3800 other plants, lose your mind completely, never sleep.  Only plants . Only work.  Oh youre sick? Too fuckin bad.  Oh you need a day off?  Its christmas you say?  Pffft... plants do not recognize your perennial "holidays".

Do this for 20 years and youll be a "horticulturalist" and be as fucking crazy as i am.

Here is an apple tree with multiple apple varieties grafted onto it

It was planted by one of my relatives...

I gotta say, it is extremely fascinating how nature works like that

We could probably do an interactive grafting thread.

I look at seed grown fruit (is this what you mean by "specimen" trees?)
The same way i look at F1-4 spore grown mushrooms.
Perfectly fine, but you never know what you're gonna get.

Grafting speeds up the seed to fruit time, and allows you to stay consistent.
People selling trees want to be able to promise consistency and the only way to do that is use genetics you know.

I often see apples from seed hated on by people on the internet, but some of the best apples i ever had were from the side of the road, grown by a window chucker. Granted im in apple country and i take the good genes in the area for granted

Totally.  Just got back from maine and i had some roadside apples that were great.  Cider is exciting when you have 100 nameless apples and pears going into it.

Langten, i hope those tags got removed. They will girdle and kill those grafts

Also, have you ever had any of the pigmented flesh heirloom apples? Lucy glo has striking pink throughout its flesh, and theres others that are like blood red and make you look like a vampire from their juice.

Ive only tried lucy glo and flavor is close to pink lady

No though, when we say specimen trees we mean clones.  Theyre all grafted except for conifers.  Spruce and pines are typically grown from seed which makes them genetically kinda all over the place but there are for sure specimen conifers too.  isely is the big company doing this.  They clone them largely with tissue culture which is damn near the same process as cloning mushooms with some added steps.

Haha you know not what you wish for.  Imagine having a lot of pets to care for.  Then imagine having hundreds of thousands.  Almost a million living things all with different needs. It really does become maddening.  Especially when you start using various substances to power through the mountains of work far far past the normal human thresholds of the human mind and body.  You become people you never thought you could be, and never wanted around.

The plants become more important than anything.  More important than your health, your friends, your family, your girlfriend.

I destroyed a marriage this way and didnt think much of it until my world melted and i no longer had a reason to be doing any of it.

My dads lived this way for over 50 years now.  People think hes a sweet old man but god they have no fucking idea how truly insane he is.

The tags remain, it isnt my tree so i choose to leave it be. The tags are a quite stretchy material, but I will have a word with its owner once/if it becomes a problem

Thx for lookin out

And ive never tried pigmented flesh heirlooms or lucy glo

I prefer a more tart apple as opposed to a sweet apple,  apparently I love the taste of battery acid:shrug: gets me charged up

The tags are meant to stretch and break but i have also seen them become imbedded in the plant which just doesnt feel natchy.

Just something to keep an eye on.

Oh for sure im just rambling.  I think it can easily become a headless monster once you really start seeing money from it.  Dad never saw the value in a peaceful life over having money to keep expanding projects and more ideas to
Work on.  Dying of cancer, he still talks about starting new operations.  New ways of cloning and new business ideas.. truly its tiresome.  Im just like "okay dude, how bout you start with a sandwich and takin your fuckin pills huh?"

Bad news about my chestnuts. Those are horse chestnuts! You can tell because of the big old butt hole on them and they're flatter. These are "invasive Ish" they're also inedible.
Very cool looking plant with spiky seed pods. But I don't think I wanna cultivate this versus the delicious European ones

I used to live on a property that had a super old black oxford apple tree on it, one of the coolest fucking apples imo. Super tasty and just stunning. The outter edge of the flesh near the skin would get a blushy pink, and the skin was soo dark red it looked black.

I've been going hard on the summer edition redbull, full sugar of course. It's sudachi&lime flavored and I realized the other day it's very reminiscent of mountain dew and it honestly made me like it a little less lol.

Langten, you should pull a scoby chunk off in a separate container and start feeding it coffee, shit's soo good ๐ŸคŒ

What in the ever living fugg are you talking about:rofl:

Im so intrigued...

Tell me more

Swap the tea for coffee, start with like a half strength brew to get it used to it and then go full blast after the first ferment. I used to add a lil blueberry syrup for a secondary ferment on it and it was killer
