Our water heater broke.  She needs a bath.  I've got a little handheld water pump that has a shower head attached to it..

you can stick it in a sink or bucket of  water and it's basically a handheld shower for babies.

I figured I'd use the sous vide to heat up some water in the container and then dip the thing in.  And bam.  Perfect bath. 



She's so cute and chunky.  Lol all those pudgy baby creases.  Your right tho.  She would prlly be pretty tasty.

The most psychologically unstable period of my life was when my son was less than six months old and functioned like a device perfectly fashioned by the universe to eradicate any notion of sleep. Those would have been dangerous times to be within reach of a sous vide.

Luckily I just wept into my hands while my mind went tumbling off the earth instead cause he’s such a good little fella to have around these days.

the moment i modified the weight atop my presto PC and tried it out, i realized that it was not only a stupid little modification that made it run at 18psi, but it made it run smoothly on my gas burner's 'low' setting without trying to find a sweet spot, or turn it down after a while... and the whole thing runs quieter and uses less gas now.  have you tried putting weights on your weight?

Hes non verbal with autism.  I took many years of struggling to have our daughter. 

And many many  losses.  You can tell by the age gap. 

Then she stopped being able to get pregnant entirely. 

At 34. They told her is wasn't gonna happen.  Less than 3%chance without ivf.

Maby 25% chance if we did. 

So lots of tears and money. And 4 more losses. 2yrs of  Ivf and doner eggs finally gave us  a perfect little girl.

Aw man.  I'm sorry you had to go through so much for it, but so glad to hear it worked out. I had some friends go through similar, very rough times but it's been incredible. Fuck yeah for beating the odds.

Also the sous vide for that is legit brilliant.

I must admit that my kids are my purpose in life, and it was a real relief to have a biological purpose, some function or goal, instead of being just a dead-end.

That was a convo on discord, wasn't it? Damn I still miss the discord groups. And our absolutely brilliant Mr. Jong. Social skills of a peanut with more cognitive power than a chess championship.

We are planning MUCH, for the first time in my life I'm not scared of the future. I'm scared of many things the future may hold but no longer of the concept itself.

I have quit drinking (went from about half a liter+ of vodka almost every night to haven drank socially and with much moderation 3-4 times since february 28th ), I've lost about 55lbs that needed gone, revived my passion-project I hope to make my career, and I am madly in love with my partner who is the most wonderful person I've ever known, I will do everything in my mortal and divine power to make it all work out. I've always had a gnawing anxiety around most commitments in my life, commitments have felt like gallows -"where your dreams come to die", she has the opposite effect on me. It's amazing and I never thought I could be so fucking excited and full of yearning for the most ordinary chill life with this lady and a couple little fellas. feels good, blessings be

lately the plan has experienced unforeseen variables in the form of a whistleblower wrongful termination case against my former employer but I'm hoping it's a blessing from the universe and I'm delivered a fat settlement to carry me back on my way with our plans, we shall see

It's got to be nice to have the full capacity of the 23 quart Presto and the set and forget luxuries of the instapot. Plus no extra time cuz it reaches 15 psi.

it really is a refreshing outlook amidst the storm of anxiety

my sleep has too many other factors affecting it to say theres a huge difference, unfortunately drinking for me was a tool to quiet my body and mind enough to fall asleep, so its been a trade-off more than anything- sleepwise

With regards to babies / parenthood, yes, I think society over-emphasizes the same stuff it always does. You need this much money and a car that size, start saving money for when spritzling goes to uni, etc etc. When all young children really need is involved adults. They need love and confirmation, heaps of them, skin contact, eye contact, someone who endlessly talks to them. They want a stable bond with an available parent, but receive pacifiers for adults (devices) instead.

Most people around me work their asses off for their fancy home, dito car, that expensive vacation that's going to look so good on Instagram. And when they get home they are tired and need alone-time. I am convinced of the opposite: work as little as you can get away with, and invest your time and energy in your genetic project. Young kids learn things at an incredible pace. Languages, determining different species, using different tools. My kids can make fire, paint, cook, use most tools, create things out of aluminium or beeswax, do basic woodworking, handle different animals, use correct argumentation schemes, change a diaper, speak proper English etc.

These things, learning skills together, creating stuff together, create a bond that makes you the go-to safe person, but also teach them at a young age: you are the architect of your life. Most of the things you want, you can create, or negotiate in good faith with other people. They can pick up the whole 'sit still and listen to the truth' thing in school. Kids don't want you to work your ass off, or behave decently, they want to tell endless stories about their stuffed animals and see you actually interested in Pee pee or goo choo's whereabouts.

The costs are negligible, those first years. They eat little more than a cat and there's always some kind of sale or discount action on diapers.

But I'm rambling again, sorry.

That sounds really good Tri. How's your sleep? I was really surprised, in hindsight, by how much drinking affected my sleep. And congrats on your partner, and your changed outlook on the future / big commitments.

And yes, good times indeed. Luckily we still have the Confessional, lol

I have a cheapo induction hob, after venting, 2 is not quite there and 3 gets me overpressure. But- if I make the PC all cozy under blankies 2 is perfect. Built in timer on the hob too
