I just started my grain journey this year but I have run about a dozen jars with no contamination at all.  This is what I"ve been using...



Red Milo $30 for 10lbs on Amazon. Not cheap but worth it to me. I've also left preped jars out for weeks without issues.

My prep:
rinse
24hr soak
bring to a boil then
simmer 10 minutes
drain and dry
sterilize in pc</font>

I used to no soak hard boil Sorghum for 5-6 minutes, very tough grain, and one of my favorites.  A 10 min simmer sounds about right, soaking is old school, but it's your dream and or fantasy, play as you will!

Yeah you have some options:

Punish it.

Floating lotus is another popular one that is getting some traction, just fill your tub until the substrate just barely floats and come back after 12 hours and see if there's any water left, if it is dump it out, if not repeat.

And then you could submerge the whole sub in the tub for 8 hours and dump the water.

They look slightly bacterial, I would still send it if I didn't have anything else in the pipeline, maybe at 1:2,5 ratio

But, I wanted to ask, is the mycelium bruising and throwing a little metabolites? It also looks like your spawn has shrunk from the jar, is that the case or is it just the picture?

The strain is an isolate and I have cleaned it several times on Agar and its 100% percent clean. dont get me wrong, im not perfect, but grown a few boxes and some transfer throughout my time doing this, so Im confident that they are clean.
When I create LC with this isolate via agar it also comes out clean when i test it again on agar, there is no bacteria or other nasty stuff.

I only get this issue when go over to grain jar. So my thinking my grain prep might cause the issues.
I do rye berries, I clean it, let it say in water 12-24h and let it boil for 5-10 minutes before drying.
like i said, no issues with any other strain with this method. so my thinking is that rye berries hold more moisture inside + 3ml LC i inject, it gets to over hydrated with this sensitive strain. I've also done agar to grain, still same issue. So must be the rye berries holds more moisture? I bulk prep rye berries, so im not 100% that it has 100% perfect moisture because of the amount. 

Could it be that this particular strain is more sensitive to other strains? And could it be a good idea trying something different than rye berries, like WBS? i checked the price and it would also be much cheaper

Guys can I use it without air exchange? I know would be challenging but I look too a syringe Filter with luer adapter not easy too find has too be PTFE Material and 13mm 0,22ug then the adapter luer too female and then i need too glue it maybe silicone is not enough too hold it 2 component glue maybe the better option.. But is nessesary? Of course I can poke a hole in the lid cover with 2 layer of micropore Tape but when the jar hanging upside down the tape gets wet and maybe contaminated?

Any solution here?

You really should take your needs into consideration.
Honestly i´d only use LC if i had 50 tubs in rotation all the time.
Maybe even then i´d only use master jars and G2G from there.
To me LC is short term use, i never had air exchange on my LC jar lids,
neither i used syringes.
Free pour every time, single use every jar.
Air in the jar is sufficient.
You can save lots of time with G2G,
just my 2 cents here
