I bet print sandwiched between super thin paper(like print on the thin paper and then cover with thin paper) and then hit with some sort of fixative/clear adhesive so that it would be visible from both sides would be cool, then stick it in a floating frame. Maybe I should try this lol. Hope your print project goes well!

What is the difference between an isolate culture and a monoculture?

My understanding is that when germinating spores, the result is as many cultures as there are spores that germinate.

After reading This thread,  im not sure understanding the definitions of each specific term correctly

This guy talks about sectoring and how if there is sectoring, it means that it isnt a true isolate, and thats where my understanding breaks down

A lot of what I'm seeing from other people that have already done it is to use card stock, then hi it with either hair spray or fixative on the paper. using fixative on glass isn't recommended because glass has no texture to stick to. so if you want to frame it either print on the cardstock backing, or print on acrylic or glass and sandwich it between 2 pieces to seal it forever.

Okay, i know I've had a few questions today but alas here is another one for you amazing people.

First flush, and first fruits ever (I'm a proud dad)

I've noticed there are actually quite a few aborts, but also that the seem to be at the base of other mushrooms that are loving life. Taking Beef's advice, I "Keep it sparkly". Any time I see that the substrate isn't glistening like a million diamonds kissing the surface I give it a light misting with the flairosol. This tends to be either once in the morning or once in the morning and possibly before bed. I do have a bit of fuzzy stems but im dialing the FEA slowly so i dont make any major changes.

Is it normal to have a bunch of aborts on a first flush?

My second question based of this same photo. Since i have some mushrooms that are clearly more mature than the rest. Do I harvest the ready ones and then leave the pins alone? When i harvest the matured ones can i grab the aborts too or should i just leave them in there for the possible 2nd flush?

The Flash in this photo makes it seem way worse than it does in person but it also highlights what im talking about.

Yep harvest the ones that are ready and leave the pins alone. A lot of aborts is potentially: under field capacity sub/genetics/not enough fae

Since it is your first first flush, you CAN grab the pins but honestly its more of a PITA than to just leave them be. They still might grow in time. Also, if theyre conected to the mature fruit they usually come off along with the mature fruit when you harvest it.

When i grew my first ever flush, I tested the theory that aborts were more potent, and it turns out that is true. However now i dont even bother with harvesting the aborts (~<2cm), i just grow a ton of mature fruits and leave the pins alone...

That being said, its up to you. They could potentially grow after a dunk. Congrats on the successful grow

From my understanding sectoring is a old outdated information though who knows it's hard to pull uptodate info without asking the vets of today personally

Seeing as the sub is starting to pull away from all 4 sides of the tub and most of the mushies have fuzzy feet,,, i think its a combo of both not enough water and lack of FAE. I took a syringe and squirted about 20-30ml of water down the sides of the tub where its pulling away and gave it a light mist of the top.

I was just reading a thread that said "look at your pins, imagen they were all full grown and mature and imagine how much water they would need"

So I think it might be choked FAE and drier than they'd like to be. Im imagining the more mature (bigger) the mushrooms get, to more oxygen they need and the more CO2 they give off. So adjusting FEA for that offset might be a thing? Either way. First flush has so much information for the next tub.

This one

Or

This one

And yes @Lo-Z. Try the Floating Lotus Tek, instead of 30 ml of water, fill the tub up with water until the substrate literally floats on water, and let it sit for a day, then drain the remaining water. that will give your sub all the water it needs, and rinse and repeat per each flush

just find the method you're comfortable with because they all get results

You're just gonna need more than 30ml

Water => Substrate :thumbup:

It might just be me, but I don't follow, come again?

i was stupid yesterday i try too try another 2% batch pc 2 times filter it 2 times but again super cloudy and tiny spots everywhere but doesnt matter my jar lids was not good enough prep the jar lids show rist inside the screw hole i add rtv silicon too cover the ports in and outside well so today i pc the lc with 0,2-0,3% with malt with the prep jar lids.

i have a question for the syring needles i reserche a bit and the gauge neende size 20gg is a good too go?

so the yellow needle? i ask myselfe if its worth buying 100 pieces of needles lol i think they last forevr and for every injection of lc i have a clean sterile needle as a backup. only the syringe i have too pressure cooked i have 2 syringes with cup pre pressure cooked

both are with luer lock as well so that is my plan i know i have too be carefull but thats always using a still air box and working there...

what you guys think here?
