True that. Like lithop and churp both said, you still
Gotta hold up your end of the bargain. I fail to do that, alot.  I think everyone does.  I do go into my sessions with a lot of intention and i integrate running and meditation as part of my ritual and i do think that helps me get where im going but its a slippery slope.  Intentions can turn into expectations easily.

Also, ive been expanding the same cultures for lirerally years and ive never seen the genetics decay.  At least with cubes ive find this to be the case.

Ive heard cordyceps decay after a single generation though.

Absolutely. Life sometimes gets in the way and can distract from true intention. I think that's to be expected from time to time and I just try to be patient with myself when I notice it happening.

And maybe cubes are just a tough fucking mushroom! Like a lot of you mofos!

Ive made some major improvements with the help of shrooms and acid.  It really helped me get over a divorce back in 2016.
Ive quit several drugs including opiates, alcohol, and tobacco as well.

Ive also fallen back into old shitty behaviors and relapsed too.  At the end of the day, we're all still human.

Like the time i got shitty depressed and projection-screamed at genny for like a week.  It was lithop who called me on my shit.  Forever grateful for that.

Some good conversation around this stuff there- yeah I think being careful for intentions turning into expectations AND being patient with ourselves are worth thinking about further. Because that's 2 that are slippier n fuck.

As for running a culture into senescence, I misunderstood: I had my mind more toward improper stabilising of a culture and it losing its desired traits- like the reversion of some PE's, a different question perhaps.

because I too've been running a clone (semp) for a few years now and it seems happy as ever.

What do you guys think about this?

My work overpaid a bunch of people. I'm one of them. I know I was overpaid, but because of the way our payslips are and because all my cheques are different, I have no way of knowing how much.

I've been asking for 4 weeks for them to tell me how much I owe with the hope of making some kind of payment plan. I've gone all the way up to HR just to be told "we're working on it".

They just gutted half my paycheck to pay back the arrears. There's a note of the "hours" they took off, but I still haven't been told how they came up with that figure, whether it affects my pension taxes, or any information.

To me, if someone says "You owe me money", I think the reasonable response is "OK. How much?". I don't think "I'll take it off what I owe you" is reasonable.

How much of a stink would you guys make out of this? I'm inclined to file a wage claim just out of spite, but maybe that's too far. I might just use some of the sick pay that I never use. Offset the balance sheet a bit.

Am I being an asshole for no reason, or would this piss ya'll off as well?

I'd be pretty upset about that Puff, the whole situation stemmed from an error on their end, and you're now having to deal with it in a shitty way several weeks after the fact with little to no explanation, and that sucks. I've been overpaid by a job a couple of times but it's always been caught by payroll within a day or two, so paying back the un-spent money has been easy, and they were very transparent about the accounting error that caused the overpayment. Sorry you're dealing with that

Thats typical corporate shit.  See this is why its important to steal from corporations at every oppertunity.  Always.  By design, a corporations entire design is wholesale theft:

They steal the value of your life and pay as little as possible.  They crush local business and then steal money from the community and send ot to their execs and shareholders.  Corporatism is ruining our counties and its a civic duty to bite back.  Always see how much you can get away with.  Steal the toilet paper.  Steal pens and paper.

I haven't paid for RTV, wiper blades, washer fluid since I joined lol

That's why I think I'll just take a weeks vacation using my sick pay. I rarely take sick days anyways and will have a second week banked in case I actually need it. Then I'll probably just pad out my hours until they notice and say something.

I don't think the company lied about how much I owe, but I hate that they'll just treat people like that.

The same thing happened at my son's work, and they met with everyone and made a payment plan that works. My work basically just stalled until they got what they wanted.

I think it sucks ass. question maybe is how much a stink will get you (worth trying?) vs deep breathing and letting it go to keep your blood pressure down if it's for sure a losing battle. if you make a stink maybe try to have fun with it?

Thanks everyone for putting this into words — I genuinely enjoy this kind of conversation.

What I'd like to add is a distinction between two mechanisms that seem to be collapsing into the same concept.

The survival mechanism Puff describes — the voice that says "you're an idiot" to the village fool — that's not what gets dissolved in a peak experience. What temporarily drops is the narrative self: the story of being a separate, continuous "me" with a reputation to protect and a status to maintain. Amygdala, insula, threat circuits — that's what Puff calls "hardwired". And he's right. That doesn't dissolve with psilocybin. Nor should it.

The other structure — rumination, autobiography, future projection, social comparison — is constructed and optional. Though it rarely feels that way.

I wouldn't put both under the same label of "ego".

On the continuous work that integration or embodiment requires — I think it's often made harder by the way we approach it. It shouldn't require discipline so much as practice. Both have their place, but discipline carries intrinsic friction. Practice is a different way of approaching the same material — less forced, and considerably more patient.

But yeah, overall I agree with you guys. Maybe I had some misconceptions that were just reflected through my observation. I'll probably be mulling it over for the rest of the day...

Hugs

I feel like I'm having wrist strain, and I think a lot of shaking jars has to do with it. I have dainty pianist hands and wrists like a nancy fairy boy.

What exercises have you tried to counter balance that? I do plan on heading back to the gym.

I used to do dumbell wrist curls, wondering if y'all have other recs for things that worked for you.

One of the main reasons I continue to take mushrooms is because it does seem to stop me from slipping into depressive rumination. Just bad thoughts that circle around my brain for weeks with no relief. Robbing me of any joy.

A single large dose seems to keep them away for about 7+ weeks before they come back. I usually take a dose around the 6 week mark.

I spent 5 years as a corrections officer in Arizona. I'm a new contributor, have been on the site for years, but just now getting involved due to the conducting of my PhD study. BeefExtreme was kind enough to invite me to throw my hat in here.

Here's the confession. I locked up, wrote up, and moved a lot of people whose real offense was putting something in their own body. Some were inside because of it in the first place. I watched people get punished for something that hurt nobody and often helped them, while the things that were actually destroying them went untouched. And I enforced it. I did the job, and I did it well, and I've spent a long time since then unsure if it was right.

The other half is what that job does to the people wearing the uniform. In seven years, I lost seven fellow officers to suicide (Corrections & PD). Not to inmates or suspects, not on the yard. To the job. Corrections and law enforcement carry some of the highest suicide rates of any profession, and nobody outside talks about it. Nobody inside talks about it either, because saying you're not okay is a career risk. So people drink, they isolate, and some of them don't make it home.

That's what put me on this path. I got out, went back to school, and ended up spending a doctorate on what happens when people find their own way through, outside of clinics and outside of the system I used to be part of. I don't have a position to sell anyone on. I have a lot of memories of people who deserved better than what they got, on both sides of the bars.

Beef, thank you for the invitation and for the rating. I'll be around, mostly to listen. One thing I want to be plain about: I'm here in the confessional as a person, not as a researcher with a notebook. Nothing anyone says in this room goes anywhere.

What was the catalyst exactly?  This is a complete transformation and im sure we are all very curious as to what triggered this.

Puff, fuck that shit, your employer shouldn't treat you like that. These are the same dirtbags you talked about earlier? Fuck that. They made a mistake, it would grace them to apologize and fix it in the most transparent, least douchebaggy way. I'd slam the table in your position, but of course you are the only one to decide on whether or not you allow them so much of your time and headspace.

Huskies, it was adviced to me to use this thingy for wrist recovery and it worked pretty good, though I have no comparison material / experience.

Fucked up my wrist in a climbing accident, was climbing again four months after surgery. The gyro thing really helped with stabilizing the joint again (in combi with kettlebell exercises).

Edit 1: much respect for that, Jwelch

Edit 2: look what I bought my wife! It's a surprise but I feel the urge to share with someone. It sounds fucking cool
