A bit tomentose, and def a little slow growing, but still good looking! Might toss a wedge to some grains and see what it does in a shoebox. This is the only good looking plate I got from a vendor Hillbilly Pumpkin swab.

Some interesting looking growth with this Shakti, looks like it wants to go rhizo but isnt fully committing? Anyone familiar with growth looking like this?

Acadian plate blasting fat ropes 🀘

Couldn't help myself with this one hehe

Oh I'll smack your agar ass any day man :badslave:

And dude you couldn't have asked at a worse day. I just poured 60 plates and used blueberry for color, didn't check pH(acid will break the agar chains) and all I filled those 60 plates with was blueberry soup :crankey:

I'll pour more tomorrow then I guess

It hurts soo good

Fuuuuuck, blueberry soup tek does not sound ideal. Maybe you could dehy them and eat them lol. Interesting though, I'd never considered using a natural colorant for agar. Wonder if fresh mushroom juice would yeild a nice blue πŸ‘€

Yeah so where I live they started using a new conservative in the regular food color and I didn't like the germination rate with spores. I thought I could live without color coded plates and just keep them in seperated shoeboxes and label them, but noooooo had to get a new idea right before falling asleep and trying it the next day, being the instant gratification monkey I am I never even checked the pH, so it's my own damn fault.

Guess I'll save the blueberries for days I'm wearing white clothes

I've been thinking of making soupy plates actually. You should keep them they might be useful.

I know a guy who makes agar mix with dehydrated grain/potato water. Uses red rice, black rice, purple potatos, etc to color code. It works great.

Got a package of 60mm plates today and was surprised how tiny they are after getting used to 100mm. As long as they can fit a cabin it should be fine, saves a bunch of agar and each culture gets its own plate.

Anyway given their small footprint, I was concerned about storing poured plates and stability of the stacks. Then it hit me…store them in upside down wide mouth pint jars. Should keep them clean, airtight, and tidy. Each jar can hold seven plates. Brilliant? Totally unnecessary?:awesketch:

Well uhm they weren't just soft, and soup might be an over statement, it was more like blueberry juice really :uhoh:

Thanks, I'll look into that, as soon as I find the will do to more plate trails

Honestly its probably not worth the trouble unless you think that stuff like that is fun (I think it is fun actually)

You can also just grab a colored sharpie and run a stripe up the side of a stack of plates for color coding instead of messing with your actual media

I do enjoy the tinkering, fine tuning and trying out new things in all aspects of this hobby, right now though I just need plates so I'll use DME and agar agar and get some plates done before I run out and make a fool out of myself

Sharpie idea is another good one, but my organizing, uhm let's call them needs, say no to that one

I do appreciate the suggestions though :hatsoff:

Ive got "SOUPY" plates (60mm)

Def works but it's a bit bulky for storage purposes, also getting the plates out without accidentally opening them, having them fall over, etc might be tricky with them beeing loose in a jar imo. I just wrap extra blank plates in little stacks, like 5 max. Clingwrap is sick for that because you can cut a section of roll a few inches wide just for wrapping stacks.
