I confess that tomorrow after some yard work and a shower, I'll be eating 10 to 14 grams and jumping in for a cage match with creation itself. I've been playing shaman too much lately and I haven't been able to properly trip in 3 or 4 months. Tomorrow I'm strapping in with some Pink Floyd, Tool, and then Allegaeon. I'll see you all on the other side.

Good luck and smooth sailing! How do you intend to down that? Most cubensis I've ever done was 11 grams, but anything over seven had to be a tea / lemon tekked. I can't chew the stuff down as soon as my mouth starts feeling warpy... Without a lot of effort. Somehow I start gagging on dried shrooms as soon as effects begin.

And I know exactly what you mean, when I regularly tripped on cubes, a lot of effects would diminish greatly. Especially visuals. A t break worked better for me than upping the dose, but the best hack was to switch to a new species.

Anyway good luck! Hope you find what you seek / need.

Edit: thought about it some more and I also cannot stand a blotter in my mouth once I'm already tripping. Always swallow them whole with a lot of water. Doesn't matter if I'm tripping on acid or some 2C-X. Hmmm

I saw a brief exchange about antidepressants in Quick Questions, Quick Answers, and to avoid cluttering that thread — I'm dropping this here, in case anyone finds it interesting:

Guys, I understand the importance and efficacy of antidepressants, but given my field, I feel it’s necessary to share my perspective.

Antidepressants do work, but I believe they should be the chosen solution when other strategies have genuinely failed. Obviously, I don't know your personal histories and every case is unique, but at a physical level, they often end up converging quite a bit.

That is why I emphasize at least minimally understanding how the body sustains and feeds that "danger state" through a miscalibrated neuroception. For those of you dealing with these kinds of issues, I recommend taking a look at Porges' Polyvagal Theory. Often, these problems start at a physical level before becoming a mental one. And while many of Porges' points have been refuted, his concepts of neuroception and "somatic feedback" were spot on—and it serves as a very useful clinical metaphor.

Because of this, any somatic work that contributes to a sense of safety (better body mapping, experiencing non-linear patterns, clear reference points) or dials down "threat" responses directly impacts the nervous system and allows for its re-education.

If we combine, for instance, the Feldenkrais Method, TRE (Tension, Stress and Trauma Releasing Exercises) — neurogenic tremors — strength training (heavily backed by studies for depression), and the window of neuroplasticity opened by a psilocybin session... we have a very powerful strategy.

Unless we're talking about severe depression, where antidepressants do serve as a scaffold — just enough to get somatic work off the ground.

Understanding certain mechanisms helps you break out of the loop, step out of the victim mindset, and regain agency over the process — which is fundamental.

Wow it sounds like you know a lot about this.  Id love to hear more thank you for sharing.  Im a person who falls into that treatment resistant depression camp.  Cptsd and a severe anxiety disorder punctuated with cyclical panic attacks.

I did find a way of living with welbutrin and then later again with a drug called auvelity but ultimately i always have my reasons for discontinuing.

My best bud is similarly fucked up and finally after 26 years he said to me "maybe i should look into getting on a medication to which i said "YA FUCKIN THINK!?"

So in no way an i against the idea of it and if you were referring to my comment about lexapro, i really wasnt suggesting he drop the lexapro so he can trip.  I was simply saying that tripping on lexapro isnt going to work.

Anyway id love to know more about this stuff.  I wish i could find a medication to worked around the clock for me.

MAOI
It isn't available to get a prescription for it in America but they sell it in Canada.
The problem is the dietary restrictions most people can't even fathom having to restrict any of their diet to not be depressed anymore.

I even dabbled with the idea of taking the free base form of it as Harmine or harmaline and infusing it directly into some VG to make a cartridge.

An antidepressant that you could vaporize.

I realized I was in the QQ-QA thread after I had made my reply and was like 😬😬 so sorry about that.

But I'm glad you moved it here because I'd also love to know more. I took Lexapro and Zoloft years and years ago, shortly after losing both my parents, and I didn't feel like it helped. I quit both of them and haven't tried anything since. I do go back and forth with my decision though because I know I need it, but I don't think I'd grow if I couldn't trip anymore and I love having this hobby (even though I'm not good at it yet). It keeps my mind on something else.

Alright, we've moved past depression here and into the puzzle itself. And I'm really glad that within this puzzle you've found your own way of functioning, expressing an extraordinary personality, and keeping up with the grows — that's genuinely admirable.

Given the CPTSD and the cyclical panic attacks, your window of tolerance is probably quite narrow, which means that right out of the gate, the possible tools (somatic work, for instance) can themselves become triggers. So what needs to happen in these cases is finding an "anchor" — some breathing work, humming, something you can actually tolerate — to start widening that window. Like peeling through layers of an onion.

When inhabiting your own body becomes threatening, it's about finding "the sequence" where each step provides enough safety for the next one to be possible — otherwise the threat-defense system just fires again.

Most likely (because I don't know your specific case) the panic attacks generate altered breathing, paresthesias (tingling), tachycardia — and these afferent signals become established as danger cues. What I mean by that is: when the brain receives these same signals again outside of a panic attack — for any other reason (a foot falling asleep, running, training) — it can interpret them as "imminent danger" and trigger a response all over again.

This is where interoceptive exposure within a safe context comes in. It's not pleasant at all, but it has solid backing and, more importantly, it helps lay the groundwork for everything else.

And the heightened neuroplasticity window post-psilocybin is precisely the moment to introduce real somatic work and autonomic regulation work — because that's when resistant patterns actually become accessible. I don't think it would work before that.

It's seriously complex, but it all follows a chain of logic once you look at the gears. The other side of CPTSD is that it becomes identity — and that requires parallel work that's already beyond my expertise, but it's equally important. I don't know if it's curable, but I do know it's perfectly manageable.

I also don't want to oversimplify this, because that wouldn't be honest. There are cases where you tell someone — do strength training — and in six months they've forgotten they were depressed. In others, it'll take six months just to slowly dial down the threat responses enough for them to be able to start strength training without having a panic attack doing it.

You can always try softer tools — box breathing, humming, NSDR, TRE or others in small doses — and see if they let you access other things that aren't usually reachable at first. Observing how to get to other layers.

The brain learns safety through repetition.

I had an American Staffordshire Terrier that ate an oz of strong PE once. She tripped for 3 days. Also did not learn her lesson. I had 2 of them and those dogs loved getting high. They were total drug scroungers. They would drink your whisky, pull the weed and shrooms out of you jacket and eat those. They needed rehab.

What ive found that works is distance running which is sortof moving meditation.  There was a book i read about it i cant remember the name of.
Periodic trips when i start to feel myself slide into depression.  Ive learned to manage well and i remain highly functional.  The issues arrise when i have to work so much i dont have time for these things. If i was wealthy, it would be simple.

I was more interested in the discussion around medication.

My two cents obviously……

Medication has a place. But that place is is only important at the start and not for long term mental health.

For mental health, long term short be natural products and actually solid therapy that is beneficial for the patient.

The outlook has been way too much “you’re fucked up and need these pills. Come see me once a month to make sure the meds are working and you have a pulse”

The most substantial mental health development I ever had was when I found two therapists who worked on giving me tools to deal with the world and wanted me to get off medicines as they were viewed by both of them as bandaides. Can’t say I disagree with their approaches.

Haven’t needed meds in 5 years. Won’t need them. Biweekly trips have worked. Have even been through rough shit and am still going through it.

The problem with long term medications (when you don’t have a 100% bonfide case of schizophrenia) is you’re body developed a
level of dependency and you mentally use it as a crutch. You don’t deal with the issues. And then to top it off, Big Pharma wants you living the “We Happy Few” life cause profit.

Ive done 14 over a like 7 hour period of time.    Couple handfuls every hour or so.

My buddy and I went through a whole ounce. We split it in half.

He kept getting up and being like "dude im fucking hungry I'm going to go down to the kitchen and get something to eat."

And then I would be like "OR we could eat more of these mushrooms!"as I pulled out the big ass bag.

And every time I jokingly said it he would shut the door come back in and say okay.

We just did that until the bag was gone. And then we finally went and got some real food.

Its was fun  I was prolly 18 at the time.

I got stuck in a loop for a while trying to prove to my friend that I was good at hacky sack. In fact so good I could do it in  just one small little corner of my bedroom surrounded by furniture.  Pro type shit. "Just watch and see!. "Ok.wait."  "watch" "wait".  "Ok watch" "ah shit" I mean wait"  and so on.....etc.

Took me about 2 hours of that trying over and over again only  to prove that I wasn't good enough and had to give up.
