No trouble really. It's actually quite easy. Set and forget. Come back in 9 hours or however many hours I want to pasteurize for and it's done. Sous vide makes it too easy.

Finally ran a good clone from an older project and we're in a peat drought :facepalm:  So I decided to just try weird shit and ran some live moss through a pasteurization cycle and added to the top.  I'm sure this will backfire, but it was fun to try...  Takes waaaaay less effort to keep the top soaked like when I have to hand mist the casings, but again: probably gonna just shit the bed.

Popo is also one of the more user friendly zapotecorum. I grow mine right next to subtropicalis with no issues. Unmodified leca water tub. Air out and mist a couple of times a day or less lol. I love that they can handle the neglect.

I'm not sure which one it is, free print from the marketplace I'll play with while I'm running through Pans.  I definitely accept the challenge, need to do an agar run.  All the best... of luck everyone.

Those look amazing Noah, nice work, a plastic bag, offset lid, do what needs to be done to get them caps to develop properly.  I have a few projects ahead of the Zaps, but thank you for the inspiration to get some plates going and get the Zap party started.  In the meantime, Pans, Mexicana, and Ingeli will have to keep me busy... for now.  I even have a NAT jar that looks like the real deal, I just want to see if stones develop... or NOT.  Beginning stages, WE shall SEE!  Great Work, and thanks for sharing.

hey, I've 3 small Zap Vera Cruz (Tlalnelhuayocan) boxes blobbing up right now:








they're from a germ plate. It's hard to convey the eruptions on photo, they're very.... Topographical lookin. Pretty cool to examine.

And my clone of Zap Texolo does seem to have signs of life/hope among the verm:






I can see many small pockets of myc that verge on primordia, I sealed a few holes as well. So hopefully this new heatwave we've just entered doesn't piss it off too much, as these seem quite fresh/ recent developments!

Okay, I want to get some of these going from a Martha tent, couple questions.


What is a good agar recipe for this species?

What grain works best?

Other Martha growers-what are your settings on your tent? How humid do you keep it and what is your temp and light cycle? Fae? Where are patches placed?


Any preferred substrate? And fruiting times?

Hello breeders, I’m having trouble cleaning my cultures using agar plates. I’ve tried both the ‘closed-door’ method and the ‘gap’ method, but there’s still some contamination. I have a HEPA chamber, I clean my plates myself and check them for over a month before using them, but there’s still some contamination. Do you have any ideas what else might help me succeed?
