Amazing antlers you have there, appreciate you... coming thru, really need some polypore's in my life. My first dip into edible/med blocks was TT, I need another go at Maitake I may have some LC left, my nemesis, but I WILL win one of these days when I get around to it.

Cheers!

P.S Open block style, I prefer small slits these days, but BIG fruits with the whole face exposed.  I was running shiitakes, kings, blue oysters, chestnuts, and TT all at the same time, with a tray of Taz mixed in there for shits and giggles. The Vicks Coolmist was working overtime, but it did the job without a doubt.

Currently showing growth on both Pink Oyster jars, (older LCs, which I don't use syringes much these days)) about 2.5 years old, been awhile with edibles and a Mush needed break (at that time).  Bolles Pink, and the Branched Oyster all jumping off to WBS. Anyway, enjoy the Day!

Whaddup edible medicinal gourmet fans, all is well, the 2.5 year old pink oyster culture is killing it, both jars doing excellent, the Branched Oyster 1 jar doing great, and Bolles BH jumping off to grain, all LC's in the 2 to 2.5 years old range.  Take care of your work... and it will take care of YOU!

Amazing your pink is still viable. I struggle storing these long term. Obv no refrigeration. Perhaps LC is a good method.

WoW, that is a big King Trumpet fruit, the meaty texture is my favorite to eat, even over pink oysters, they are worth the extra effort, can be a little sensitive to cultivate, definitely a learning curve, but I absolutely would eat these all the time.  Wonderful box of fruits you have there, ENJOY!

I'm just getting up and running with blocks, 4 Pink Oysters coming up, shorter shelf life, eat them while they are fresh off the block.

Pink Oyster LC, sitting in a pint jar for some time at room temp, I believe pink oyster cultures don't like the fridge.

Yeah I've killed them in the fridge and out lol.

Kings are my favorite that I grow. Maitake might be my overall favorite, piopinno are really good as well. I still have lots of mushrooms to try eating, matsutake, cauliflower, Cotw even boletes.

Boletes are common to forage here, well shoot, they are everywhere, but I tried some COTW blocks, no go (indoor), and oak sterilized blocks (outside) I made, didn't work out either.  The farthest I have gone with Maitake is nice brain formations, but they take forever too, maybe I need to be more patient with them. They are kind of my nemesis, if you haven't tried Beech Mushrooms, they are better than chestnuts, similar to Black Poplar, but they do require cold temps, had troubles with Beech in the mid to upper 60's.

Are those Black Pearls in the box as well, really nice clusters in there.

Black Pearl for sure, it's the best imo. easier to grow and just as great of texture if not better.

Maitake takes way too long, same with shii. I have no room for incubating or fruiting blocks for weeks and weeks if not months and months. Wish I had space but I have to stick with the fast fruiters

Once you get a good size brain with maitake, introduce it to fruiting conditions, high humidity and very low/gentle fresh air. Can be accomplished by just cutting a few long slits in the bag (above substrate level) but keeping the bag mostly intact. This is what I see when I visit my buddies mush farm. I struggle to even get brains (typical for me)

I have half a syringe left of Black Pearl, definitely easier than Kings, the King/Blue did well, but I like the Black Pearl better (taste wise) for sure. I think Southwest Shrooms has the best Maitake blocks I've ever seen, dude is cool and his videos are spot on.  I'm the same, nothing past the brains for me either, but I'll get there, this is a hobby grow, nothing commercial or anything. Crowe's Reishi conks too, Mush luv to him, he's a grower no doubt, impressive work and always striving for excellence, sounds like myself, I can dig it.  Never content with the outcome and always wanting to outperform thyself. Competition... never it's just me... and the mushroom... One on One... FIGHT!

Hey Now, Pink blocks doing their thing, about halfway home to full colonization, takes roughly two weeks give or take in my experience.

I have 4 blocks prepped for sterilization tonight for the Bolles Pink Bears Head, then I'll do two 7.5lber's for the Branched Oyster.  10 blocks to start with... Oh yeah, a Great Start.  Let'S GROW!
