Mush Love to pink oysters * 4

I just harvested a nice “bouquet” of pink oyster mushrooms that I only initiated fruiting less than a week ago. I also cooked a delicious pink oyster pasta dish. My entire family just raved over it.  I already have four bags doing a spawn run right now and also waiting in the wings is six more bags of lions mane. I’m growing them all in the Martha’s tent and so far it seems to be working great.

How did you cook them? I just grew a few for the first time in a couple years. They are very pretty

I put some olive oil in a pan that I put a pst of butter on top of that. I heat the butter at edium heattill it just starts to foam a little and smells a  “nutty”. Then in go the oysters, resist the temptation to shake or flip them over. Just let him sit there for about eight minutes till they started getting browed around the edges. Then flip them over put a little bit of fresh grated garlic, and thyme and turn heat. Careful not to brown the garlic else it will be bitter. If you want to really be decadent, you said, add some cream and grated cheese, making a sort of Alfredo sauce. This you could shovel on some fettuccine.

Today though, I actually just had fried them in butter and olive oil with a little bit of salt and a powdered a spice mix I cannot recall and they were to die for.

By the way, they lose that pretty pink color they become just kind of a dull brown. But in giving up that color, they gained a great deal of flavor.

I actually have four more grow bags that are doing a mycelium run, I am amazed how aggressive this culture I got from Mushroom Man is, BTW he is  a vendor here and a great guy.
