Awesome use of cheap fruiting containers.

After the cold pasteurization,  do you just give a rinse and let drain for an hour...before spawning?

King of pearl and king blue takes substantially longer to fruit.

I also have this handsome buddy growing.

Is that the king of pearl? Looks like my isolate does. They were big meaty specimens like I was hoping the king blue would be.

That is actually the Maine cap n stem blue oyster culture. Nice meaty caps, and quick to grow.
Interestingly, they start off as blobs, instead of the usual pins.

Cool, I haven't tried them. Have you run the princess pearl? I got massive flushes, followed by big old chonkers last flush that looked like the KOP.

You can tell by the rings. This one's a baby. Under a year. Peptone does that shit to oysters.  I only use it if the lc is needed quickly now. I used to use it in agar for a quick bounce back after a trip through the blender.

Amazon.com of all places.  Never seen it this cheap. $49 I checked it's still there.

Thanks! Yes, well 5.5# actually but yeah. It's still on the block in the first photo but it's hard to tell.

That's a huge clump of oysters! Nicely done. Never heard of that variety or blue, what is/do you find any difference between the sky blue and normal blues? Below are my kings in shoeboxes that are just starting to pin

Nice, looks like straw? I have the TME king culture, it does pretty well for me but I get crazy stroma if I leave them in the bag for too long before fruiting.

My only fair comparison is to King Blues which are really blue x elm oyster. Those do really well for me too and the blue is a bit darker and more saturated.

I don't always weigh my harvest but I suspect that Sky Blue might be my best oyster flush to date.
