Sorry to bump an old thread, hopefully I don't anger anyone, but just wanted to share my success with using this TEK, and provide how it worked for me.

I bought a new AA921 PC lid, red pressure plug, AA64 control valve, and a new gauge. I kept my old lid as is for actual canning. I just took the converted sterilizer on a test run (empty).

Some additional notes are below:
-I used 2-inches of water in the base and screwed on my lid. I placed it on the largest gas burner ("quickboil" burner; I've got a Frigidaire Gas Stovetop Model # FGF348KSK). I turned the heat on and adjusted it to a setting of 5. I let it heat until steam exited under the deflector shield. I let steam escape for 10-15 minutes, then flipped down the stopcock to allow pressure to begin building.
-Pressure built with no issues, and once it was at 10-15psi, I slowly lowered the heat setting to a 3-4 on same burner to keep consistent psi. I kept it at 20 psi for 1.5 hours, and didn't really need to adjust the heat much. Overall, it was similar heat settings I used when it was a PC with the weight. Obviously it is different for everyone depending on their stove. 
-I did have steam leaking out of one spot at the metal to metal seal, where the lid meets the base. Will need to clean off built up vaseline in this area to prevent leaking for future runs.
-After 1.5 hours, I turned off heat and let PG drop to 0 psi, then removed cover (mine always gets stuck so I carefully use a hammer under one of the wing nuts to dislodge it).
-Results: very minimal water loss. Absolute quiet at 20 psi (besides for small steam leak which I will fix for next run).

I was a bit nervous at first to try this, but it seems to work fine. No more noise, and can use far less water. Very worth it in my opinion!!!! The no-noise is huge for me and my favorite benefit of this conversion/TEK. Thanks.

If you're lid is getting stuck then you are over tightening the lid. Don't crank down on the wingnuts , just finger tight.

Maybe not applicable, but my 921 lid also occasionally gets stuck, but it's from pulling a vacuum on cool down. When I lift the weight, pressure equalizes and the lid is free.

With the mod it pulls a vacuum until you open the stopcock. At that point the lid should come off easily. I was getting the lid stuck on my sterilizer too. I think if it's cranked down too hard the lid goes deeper as the base expands, then gets grabbed onto during cooling.
For me tightening the bolts less solved the problem.

Edit: I also have a theory on why you are getting leakage and it's unlikely due to vasoline build up.
When the the lid and base heat and cool they change shape slightly (this is why we always align them to the arrow on gasketless cooker). By using a lid that hasn't adjusted with the base there may be micro gaps. It's possible that the problem could self adjust over time. If it's keeping pressure and not running dry then it's not much of an issue.
The AA pressure cookers used to be sold with stopcocks instead of weights so it's totally fine to use the sterilizer lid for canning. I would suggest not switching back an forth between lids for the above mentioned reason.

Thanks for the tips and advice. I did my first session with it late last night with 7 quart WBS jars. I then let it cool overnight without opening the stopcock. In the morning I opened the stopcock and unscrewed the wingnuts and to my pleasent surprise the lid was not stuck on this time (though the bolts were pretty tight). I usually tighten them pretty well but I don't go crazy twisting.

Good point about the possible reason for a leak. I did clean off the buildup best I could before last night's session. This time no steam leaked, but there was a sizzling noise in the same spot where it was leaking on my test run. Besides that it held pressure fine at 19 psi for 80 minutes. Very little water loss and much quieter! Though I did have to make some heat adjustments to account for the contents. Next time I will try using your AA941 Prep Tek to get up to pressure without having to keep making adjustments. I will monitor the leak area over the next runs.   

I plan to only use this new lid with the same base, as I have two AA921s. I picked a second one up used this summer for $50! I plan to use my old lid with the weight on it with my other 921 base for canning food. The original lid for this canner was cracked in one area so I tossed it.... prolly why it was $50.... still worth it.

Hate to bump and old thread but safety and all that…

I can get an All American pressure cooker locally for $300 which is only a few bucks more than what the Presto goes for these days, f%{#ing tariff war.

Can I get confirmation on the newer AA canners that I still only need to swap out the over pressure plug and the rocker for the new control valve? Parts 65 and 1010? Not sure if anything has changed over the years.
