I gotta say, adding nutrition when hydrating coir is exciting, and  will definitely push me to try growing these a lot sooner then I would have.

What you guys think though? I like to make my own fertilizer tea for my cactus/ cannabis by using highly nutritious plants such as seaweed or lambsquarters, rather then buying store bought mixes.
Worth an experiment?

Worth an experiment for sure. I would assume this calls for pasteurization though but would be delighted to be taught it's not

Nice. Coming from you holds weight.
Don’t really know much about pasteurization, only looked into it briefly a while ago.
Can’t you do that by prepping coir in a cooler with boiling water? Or is that something else haha.
Either way I’ll read up.

My thought was just boiling the shit out of the water when prepping the tea, like I would sterilize drinking water from a pond ect.

Yeah, I though that was the experiment to go for. Pasteurizing it would be staying on the safe side in terms of contamination risk but if you are willing to take one for the team then go with adding your homegrown ferts to the coir water. Well, it will be interesting either way.

A post while tripping-
More than a month ago I grew  TTBVI - My first Pan grow in years:

and more recently WEZA:

For me -my best trips I've found in the last few months are from mixing 1 to 2 grams of Pans with ~15g cubies- Jedi Mind Fuck and Mazatapec are my current favs
.
I have this medication- Methylfenid (Ritalin) and I found at least for me, my last 3 trips have these incredible plateaus- Im pretty sure this stuff enhances and extends the trip.
Grooving to some Lana Del Rey-sublime!

Thank You, Sleepy Dave & Asura!!

Beautiful fruit Mary! I love the weza.

Chopped the bisporus clone #1 yesterday, not great but not bad coverage from the clone culture. Took lots of nice prints

I've played with a few things and hopefully I can get a little bit better pinset out of the next flush but I think I'll run a MS culture next time.

^^ Smart Henry, thanks man. Did that, and I used 2 tbps of the diluted mix on top. Wish me luck.

I wanted to do cakes with half coir/ half manure, but maybe I could do a coir only batch first with just the liquid fertilizer added to the soak water. Has anyone tried that before?

On a similar note, are there any concerns about feeding shrooms commercial fertilizers? Are there flavor differences? Anything worth noting?

Sleepydave has brought the liquid fertilizers up a while ago. He has a post in his journal which is a bit unorganized but have a look til Mojave has theirs ready.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/28531825#28531825

I think mixing them in with the coir prep water is the usual approach. I have used liquid compost but got mold and some say certain brands are less likely to contam. Don't think that any of them would influence the taste or something.

All hail sleepydave the pan guru. Dude taught me everything I know about Panaeolus, including the ferts. He’s since moved on to compost, leaving me to finish things up.

So yeah, I’m currently using True Organic 2-2-2 preplant starter + jackpot ferts. 10-30ml TO, 20ml jackpot. Added to my coir prep water as it boils. The exact amount varies depending on what I’m growing.

I had high contam rates (30-75% depending on the run) with Royal Grower, but Dave did not have that issue. Tree frog had poor results on RG. With TO, I’m only losing iffy spawn. 10-20% of my pan grows. I don’t lose anything else I grow (mostly sect. Zap & Mex) on CV+.

^ What I want to do is skip the grain stage, and go straight from Clean Agar to LI to inoculating PF coir cakes that were sterilized with the nutrients in them (are they heat sensitive?).

I think it might make the contam aspect less of an issue.

Also, are these ferts doing anything for Ochras/Cubes or has no one tested yet?

Solid idea. I don’t mind that I’m only losing iffy spawn now. Makes it a skill issue, which can be addressed. I’ve been actively growing pans for maybe 6-7 months total around my hiatus, so my eye still needs some training.

Tree frog added some ferts directly to her spawn as an experiment, and she got fully formed fruits. She said the coverage left a bit to be desired, but decent fruits. So I’m gonna say heat is likely okay.

I spawned some cubes to it out of curiosity. Wasn’t great. Got like 3 oz dried from 2 shoes & 2 16qts. Same culture that gave me the cube pic in my sig. Haven’t grown ochras in some years but I highly doubt it would be beneficial.

Sooo, after 9x9 mentioned the Bbar stones or sclerotia I realised all my wild pan clones produce them, why I never thought much of it I guess as they’re just the norm for me but now I’m wondering wtf?!

Any thoughts on what these are?
They’re rock solid, I’ve broken up larger ones but smaller ones won’t break.

Edit: I’m not saying these are actually sclerotia, just wondering if anyone has theories on why they form.

If they're solid my guess is stones.  Here's some white gournet sclerotia (king tuber).

Re: Liquid Nutrients in grains did well.  Got five or six flushes from bispo.  Coverage was better with compost but yield was similar across all flushes.

Can someone walk me through using liquid nutes in place of poo? I have all the
nutes for growing weed on coir (General Hydro stuff) and I'm wondering which
one of those would work.

I have to admit I am a little hesitant because it seems like a gigantic contam
magnet to me. But the thought of never having to source poo again seems great.

Also, are you guys getting good yields with this? Unless I can get 30g dry per 3 quarts sub, I
probably wouldn't switch.

Well guys, my experiment adding 1-1-1 fertilzer to coir ended up triching out in a hurry.  Look so promising, then green everywhere.  I may try hydrating coir with liquid nutrients, sterilizing it and doing a grain to spawn transfer or lc to spawn in a bag, letting it colonize then transferring to a tub. But my gordotek run has given me enough ttbvi for probably a lifetime and unless it really is superior to cubes and nats, I don't really need to fiddle with it anymore anytime soon.

I'll certainly post up if I stumble upon something.
