if you look at charts of employment and economic data... its pretty easy to see that people have had better outcomes during democratic control of congress and presidents... the former being more important.

but often because of economic lags it seems like things go down hill when the dems take power.... so if you are already pre disposed to feel like the dems are bad its going to confirm that...in their first 2 years... and not in the next two...historically speaking atleast... the future is unclear the dems seem to be heading in a bad direction overall...

the republicans are very clear about their agenda... its to help the corps out and hope the little guy gets the crumbs. it never works out.

there is a place somewhere in libertarian land... where the government helps out companies which are very small (in dollars)... and make it difficult for companies as they make more and more dollars (via taxation and lack of benefits and deductions and increased oversite...large companies are more streamline, and the dollars for those efficiencies go into the pockets of people making way more money than they need, and reducing jobs ... so small inefficient companies are better for the overall system... large companies would certainly still have a place but the benefits  would dry up and they would have to exist without so much government help. we subsidize the oil companies with BILLIONS... they would be profitable without the subsidies.... so why bother? because the oil companies are controlling the politicians...and feel they need more airplanes and yachts... and that the taxpayers should give them those things for free. to the tune of BILLIONS EACH YEAR.

all the while the local grocery store or hardware store.... or even bank... are going the way of the dinosaur.

if we could get a party of main st in power things would do better.

Some lady reacted to watching this by saying "I feel like I just watched trump get elected". It does feel like that.

Around here it's been $4-5 since W was in office, goes down to 3 sometimes, but it's been up in that range for a long time.

That's exactly what happened. Every single democrat and liberal I know feels the same way or worse. The fact that the entire democrat party and all the liberals think he bombed it so bad that he lost the election is what really proves that he did in fact lose the election that night.

If he has a single intelligent bone in his body, he'll step aside, but I'm not holding my breath. After that debate, I think he's probably too far gone mentally to seriously consider stepping aside, ironically.

Even if he steps aside, it's a long shot. The last time someone stepped aside on the democrat side was 1968, and the still democrats lost.

But at least then we'd have a shot. With Biden, we're already fucked, probably in for the biggest loss of any of our lifetimes.

We just need to elect joe biden.  Trump did shitty in a different way and that should help biden who has proven not to be a destroyer.
The ones who should be worried about their candidate dying or getting out are the trump supporters.  Their platform is trump and they don't have another one. Biden has been doing fine in the job for america.  When shipping was slowed, it was acted on, unions were not bashed and we got a infrastructure bill that actually spend some money on something real.

Grocery stores prices are high because of the wars.
Drives up the cost of gas, which drives up the cost of pretty much everything. Inflation has been going down finally. They should lower interest soon.

I think the infrastructure bill is great. It’s just taking a long time to get to me. But I’ve already been seeing improvements.
Where I live though. It’s basically a guarantee you’re going to run into construction if you’re driving in a straight line long enough.

Yes but I also remember 9 dollar two by fours and no toilet paper under trump.  I remember a big can of pvc pipe glue being a buck fifty in 90s but the little can being 5 bucks under trump before covid.  I remember making 3 bucks an hour and retired ten years ago making 27 bucks and hour.  It is the way of the world.  My uncle told me when ice cream was a nickel they never got any but when it was a buck they got it anytime they wanted.  I remember 1000 and less square foot house being average and believe me that is not what it is now.  Most I know like to bitch but can't really say that it is worse for them today in real buying power then it was under trump.  All the old guys I play guitar with will admit it is better now but have this big fear the end of days is coming and future depression more then what is really happening to them today.

Yeah the reality is unless he himself bowed out this close to the election it'd be a nightmare to find a replacement that can beat trump.

Gavin Newsom gets floated but alot of California dems like myself don't think he's done a good job. People across the isle hate him. Nothing but bad things are said about him essentially. No. they won't switch candidates.


@gww Yeah I mean I still prefer bidens actions and policies more. Including what I see as stopping ww3 before it starts by supporting Ukraine. Where trump is saying he wouldn't protect nato countries, wouldn't honor article 5 and he'd "let Russia invade nato". That's guaranteed world War. If Putin invades Poland it's pretty much game over world wide.


@Texas Yeah I've seen grocery prices. They've been like that ever since the pandemic started and there was legit supply issues. Now manufacturers don't have a big supply issue yet they charge the same. Also I don't believe the president has as much pull with gas or food prices as people think they do. Especially in a democracy where the free market is actually free.


Of course trumps a bad leader. He's like the parent that desperately wants to be the child's friend. He takes that approach to everything and it's going to end up in nothing but superficial grabdstanding and devastating actions of his that he doesn't think through at all.

He's much more comfortable with people that are yes men and do what he wants which is not the role of the president.

Has no problem upending democracy to get his way. Virtually everyone he hired ended up telling him something he didn't want to hear and got fired. 60 court cases he lost even from judges he appointed but he said they were corrupt judges that again he appointed.

Bill barr cleared out peaceful protestors with tear gas so the big asshole could take a picture with a Bible in front of a church and he said that guy was working with the dems because even with the vast resources of the DOJ he couldn't find a shred a voter fraud evidence.

He asked a republican governor to find him a specific amount of votes he lost by. Al gore felt cheated too and he didn't have a mob attack the capitol. Ironically also I believe he's corrupting Christians.

Since he first took office I've seen people treat him as a god who can do no wrong.

Not just a king but a god. I've seen fake gold idols of trump I've seen trump merchandise being sold in churches which Jesus would've flipped the table over. They push to teach about religion and trump early on to kids. It's very very cult like. Which may be fun for his supporters.

Gives them a false sense of security and optimism, energized them. But at what cost? I can't find a single trump supporter now that can say bad things about him. That's scary shit that they can't see any faults in him at all. They've been programmed that any mere suggestion of trump doing something bad is "fake news".

That's how putin started his 20 years reign. Calling all dissenting opinions "fake news" that's a go to of every authoritarian in history from Stalin to Mao to frigging Kim Jong Un.

He's the leader alot of america wants and he's the one leader dumb enough to get the entire world set ablaze because he's a defiant petulant child. He thinks like this: Nato bad mouthed me so I'm going to be friends with Putin and Un from now on. So you know what Putin, take Ukraine. If Poland doesn't pay us for protection Russia can just have that and trigger article 5 which means about 150 countries combined nukes except the U.S. flying towards Russia in a coordinated attack then the Russians target all of Nato and the US for great measure.

when they are low companies who have a lot of money BORROW funds to expand.

which makes more efficient companies, which reduces competition.

theres nothing wrong with lowering rates but its a trade off and you need to do it slowly or it gets out of hand.

trump forced the hand of the feds with threats... which artificially boosted the stock market.. reduced housing opportunities for the middle class... and raised prices across the board. its simple econ ... it doesnt take a smart person to see it.

bidens stock market has boomed higher... but was way more conservative...and thus has improved the overall economic picture... the negative aspects that remain can be traced back to the trump admin for the most part.

Let it go. Complaining now when you can't change the nomination on either side is pointless.  You all had your chances during primary season but the media all control by Blackrock only focused on these two old men.

Blackrock control of media is quite the exaggeration, but they do have more liberal influence than I realized.

GOP hates Blackrock now which makes me like them, but keeping my paltry sums in Vanguard and Fidelity.
