5 more to go:

One more lost to bacteria:

One to mold:

But I've spotted what appears to be clean germination on another plate:

7th day since inoculation with 3yo dried gill fragments from fruits dried longer than 24 hours at 160Β°F.

Natalensis spores on agar, only 4 days old

Also a few transfers I took from BRF pucks.

Nice that's kind of amazing really they survived the dehydrator blasting. Wonder if it means the ones that survived and germinated have a genetic disposition to be more resilient spores.

What do you think of this spore germination plate?

Am I looking at two different set of cubensis mycelium that aren’t getting along very well? Or do you think contamination is a factor?

I suspect that spores are just hardier than expected. Plenty of folks have put caps or clones to agar in the past and have seen growth. I suspect that the growth is from spores and not from dried fruit material due to the temperatures reached during drying, which should kill live mycelium.

If the mycelium survived I would have expected growth sooner than 8 days and for the growth to be appear more structured.

Looks good take some transfers from that 3 o'clock and noon regions to some new dishes.

I think that's a safe assumption. Very doubtful that's the dried flesh coming back to life.

How does my germ plate look?

Should i send it or take a transfer?

Btw the circled thing is a dirt stain on the lid.

I have a hard time understanding what's going on on that plate. I would make a tiny transfer from one of the rhizo growths

You cant rely on your senses (sight, smell, etc) to judge whats going on in the microscopic world fungi operates in.

ESPN is an american sports channel, it's a play on words instead of saying ESP (extra sensory perception)

You're German, I'm autistic, it's practically the same thing.  Allow me to translate.

Thinking it's time for a final check and then to drop these into some grain, top photo is transfers from one grem plate and bottom photo from another. All P. Nats.

Germ plate 2 transfers, first plate, top left had some suspect spots, have some transfers growing out of that plate, not 100% sure if it was bacteria or because agar wasn't 100% solid when I moved these plates and the surface just looked weird.

I guess I should let plate 4, bottom right and maybe plate 2, top right, grow out some more? Plate 4 is being especially slow

Germ Plate 2 transfers:

Think these plates from Germ plate 1 are both behaving themselves .

Grem Plate 1 transfers:

I have 8 x quart jars of grain ready to go, going to run 8 x 5L shoe boxes, 1 quart per shoe box, not sure how to best split these up...

I was thinking of maybe splitting the 3 plates that have filled the whole plate into half and drop into 2 jars per plate, using 6 of the 8 jars.

Then the entire plate, for the other 2 plates into 1 jar each?

Guessing I should toss the potentially suspect plate from the Germ Plate 2 lot of transfers, and then use those 2 transfer from that plate for another couple of jars... ideally I'd fit everything into the 8 shoe box run, but I guess I could then use those 2 jars to do a monotub?

As always appreciate your input shroomery. Thank you.

Thanks nektar61! Took a couple of arbitrary transfers.

This was from a clone of a leucistic, purple-spored fruit from a Rusty Whyte multispore grow that seems to have been an accidental cross. Its tub produced wild-type mushrooms and leucistic mushrooms with purple spores, but none with brown spores. Every time I've grown out the clone culture, it makes only purple (or maybe they're mixed purple and brown?) spores. This large plin dropped very distinctly brown spores! I transferred a couple chunks of the stipe to new plates.

(I guess maybe it's notable that this culture likes to make two very different sectors on agar, even when I transferred from just one of those sectors:

So maybe had just gotten unlucky with a transfer and lost the brown-spored strain on the actual lineage I've grown out?)
