Hey 0mar. On the plates that I’ve had bacteria on, the myc is rizo trying to get away from it. Here’s a plate I grew half mold and half myc on if that helps to see a difference.

Honestly I’ve spawned, and fruited, more plates that look like your “mold” than anything. Almost none of my plates are rhizo and they work just fine.
If you inoculated your media with viable mycelium or spores I am highly doubtful almost any plate will be entirely just mold. It may be riding along, but the absence of mycelium is an exaggeration IME

Also, mold is not bacteria. Bacterial contamination on a plate looks entirely different.

Maybe you’re right. This is a t4 plate and I had not seen growth like that up to this point. I didn’t mean to refer to mold as bacteria, I just had that picture as a reference to illustrate what I was describing. I can see how I wasn’t clear. Thanks for the input.

That plate just looks like it has a tomentose side. I'd send it to grain.

Okay this is actually very helpful I do get a little crazy with the streaking.

So left side is good to go as well?

Thank you for the constant help! I took those 3 transfers as recommended by cocaine and 4 plates I just inoculated (2 Malabar and 2 Mazatepec) I might of fucked up bc I always thought z pattern meant like zigzag down the plate. Now I understand it literally means just one Z! So next plates I’ll do just one big z. Thank you all for the constant help I promise it won’t go to waste. I’m trying my hardest and using every piece of information provided by all you wonderful people. Thanks again.<3

IMO, yes. I’m still not the most experienced, but my spawn success has been around 99%, 90% grain jars, 100% bags, and my agar work looks like sh*t compared to the pro’s... but even with poor looking agar… 99% of it still ultimately fruited.

For reference, I only tossed maybe 4-5 of these plates as unviable, and took transfers from the rest.

I’ve had tomentose plates like this work great

I’ve successfully taken transfers from agar that were growing literally upright off the plate

That colonized almost perfectly into:

IMO/E agar work is extremely beneficial to identify uniformity and quality through the colonization. Just because it isn’t perfect, doesn’t mean it won’t work… it just may not be best.

Pour a ton of plates and take lots of transfers and just observe, take notes, post pictures, learn and get better

It looks pretty but I'm afraid it's bacterial.

Should I wait or transfer asap?

The PEUW6 plates look like they are doing well. Maybe one more transfer. Its a pretty uniform, almost always tiny rhizos/tomentose.

Plates might be a little rich.

Rate my agar plates. Names of everything are in the pic. I know the PE T1 plate needs some work. Where would yall pull the transfer from. The furthest growth?
Planning to take a transfer from each then sending the rest of the plate to grain.

Anybody recognize this mold? Showed up on this plate within 48hrs of pouring but hasn't grown exceptionally fast since then. It's pretty deceptive to a noob, especially when it's riding along on something else. I think I grew several bags of it a couple months ago.

I think this is the same stuff but I'm not quite sure

Most of these look great. PE Clobe- too much condensation to see anything. PET1- I like 12 or 10 o’clock for a cut.
