Best bet is to avoid temp swings.
I place mine in a thermo box,
no more condensation after a few days.

Does anyone see anything here worth transferring? Or let it ride? These first 3 are 2nd transfers and the last pic is a misunderstood attempt at a clone (used outside flesh).

LOL These were T1 plates from some sus pan prints that I received.  I managed to isolate some good cultures onto other plates and I plan to toss these and take a step back and punt.   

I have had some pretty sus plates in the past, but these are new territory in the act of the uglies.  I had bacteria AND mold growth on this round and it could be due to a number of factors.  Still kinda neat though to even watch your failures play out.

You just rubbed a piece of moldy bread on those, didn't you? Confess.

EDIT: How can T1 get so infected all over the place? You have molds way way past where the myc grew. Can that even happen or is your agar fucked to begin with?

LOL Im not exactly sure *what* happened on this last transfer.  Those were some pretty spooky plates. 

But ironically not all of them ended like that, I did manage to get a couple of good transfers that I will try to finish cleaning up before sending them to LC or grain.

Just another day in the hobby and trying to figure out where you stepped out of line when shit goes goofy like this :laugh:

Are you doing the macarena with these plates? Do you take them to the gym with you for aerobics class? How the fuck do you get molds everywhere? I have month old plates of Aspergillus and Penicillium which are just single colonies.

Thoughts on this week looking growth?

This is on 10g agar: 10g LME : 500ml water.

Many of my plates look like this. I get the occasional plate with very obvious mold or bacteria but plenty of plates like this. If I leave them they grow out without any contamination fully taking over but they just look weird.

I have dozens of plates like that. I think it's just multispore genetics and environmental conditions.

We are also a bit biased from all the pretty plates with thick rhizo growth that are often posted here, but people don't post their ugly duckling plates.

What LME are you using?  I picked up the briess on Amazon and had terrible growth at 2%.  Increasing to 4% produced much better growth.
