First run at pouring agar.  Too much condensation, next time I will pour at a lower temp.

Condensation is an uphill battle the whole way. I’ve given up and just deal with it. Lol

Poured between 130 and 140 about 2 to 3 hours ago.  Left hood on while working on substrate.

I've poured as low as 120 and there's still condensation for a few days on the upper portion of the stacks, my last session still has ~15 plates with condensation  (out of 50). It'll clear up.

I've become addicted to agar. Holy shit is it fun. I want to thank so many for helping out thus far. There are some truly talented, caring and giving people on this board with time and knowledge. Thank y'all. I'd like to give a HUGE shout out to Milkboy and Fahtster.

These were pristine cultures to begin with. I made transfers to increase my odds of success and give me more clean cultures to work with in the future.

These were some MSS and swab (thanks RoscoeReturns). The Playa x Fiji was streaked and I will take several transfers.

These were clean to begin with but I contammed them and will make a transfer from them to try to save them.

Finally some Wave6 plins that'll be transferred soon.

I would like to thank the academy and the Jell-O box. Yeah, agar is that easy folks.

I just did some no-pours in glass petris a fewdays ago. They were all swamped with condensation when I unwrapped them the next day. The tops and bottoms were also wet on the outside. But, what did work out is this ... petris with foamy pours had no foam after PCing... Guess it remelts nicely. Nice surprise

I decided to try something unconventional.

Ignoring the confining SAB, I stacked all the soggy petris in a plastic shoebox and threw in a big handful of rechargeable desiccant packs. I put the lid on loosely. After 2 days all but 4 looked totally dry and the desiccant packs had definitely changed color. I wrapped all the dry plates and put them all back, with the few still-wet ones on top. This time, no desiccant, just a loose lid. The condensation is slowly going away but I really think the desiccant in the first run helped.

Did I contaminate them all by handling them outside the SAB? Did I dry the agar out too much by using desiccant to clear up condensation? I don't know yet. We'll see in a couple more days I guess. But it's been a couple days already and I haven't seen any cooties yet.

So far I kind of hate no-pour. Without a petri holder anyway, wrapping the stacks is a PITA. Pouring in the SAB seems like less work overall in my limited experience.

yeah most likely. but like you said, you'll find out.

I definitely have to agree with you on the pour agar. I have nothing against no-pour, but I use cups, so its a no-brainer.

Although I've yet to be successful at grain I'm working on it. Agar is just plain fun and very fulfilling. There's another 15 or so I need to clean up but let's face it, those weren't as pretty so they didn't get posted.

I wish my grow diary was as easy as agar...

Have you tried Hinsight's 100% condensation free agar plates pour or no-pour
I dont have those stainless trays that they use. I use PP A4 size trays, the clear ones in the agar collection at the top of this post.

I took me a few go's to get 90% clear cups on no-pour, every run. I leave it under the blankets for 48 hours. Downside, you have to plan your agar runs a bit more.

Before closing up and prep for PC run

After PC run and unpack. This was less than 24 hours stand time.

Condensation is the bane of my agar work. I've poured cold enough that it falls off the bottle in chunks and I still get it in the top 40% the stack. The only thing that kinda works for me is leaving the stack in the SAB overnight, then only the top one is really bad. But that's a PIA, I got shit to do man. I guess if you batch pour plates in advance then it's ok.

I don't even really care if they are full of condensation or not in principle, the problem is when you have 20 plates that you need to look at and judge which ones will go for transfers and you can't see shit. So you have to bust out the tea cups and shot glasses and play tea time with yourself. I guess I'll get some dolls and imaginary friends to come over for the tea party so time passes faster.

Yeah trays with hot water will work but shit man, that's another thing to have to plan around and carrying around shallow trays with hot water is not my definition of a good time.

I've done this independently and seen it posted once on here. Use a heating pad instead of mugs of hot water.
